Not much good at comments, but I really enjoy your videos. I got my CDL at a major turning point in my life, but God had other plans and I never ended up on the road. So I can sort of live my other life through your experiences. Thanks Trucker Josh

I worked in the Federal Government in an English Essential Position. You do not have to be bilingual for all positions in the Government. They have three types of positions, English Essential, French Essential and Bilingual. Also you can come into the Government in an English Essential position and then become bilingual. Government offers the training to become bilingual, so people internally have the opportunity to compete for higher level positions where bilingual is mandatory. That's one of our company trucks and our trailers are bad when it comes to sliding the tandems and we have customers where the tandems must be slid all the way back, so he may of picked up the trailer like that and now having troubles sliding them forward.

French speaking story. A decade or so ago I was driving through Quebec on vacation. I also spent the night in Val d'or. In the morning I stopped at a convenience store for gas and something for breakfast. I got to the cashier and he rang it up. Like you he spewed out the price very quickly in French. I stood there with a dumb look on my face while he said it again. After the third time I pointed to the digital cash register display. He politely rotated it so I could see it. I paid, said "merci" and was on my way.

Laval is not just a suburb ! lol It s the 4th or 5th biggest city in Canada ! Well. was a long time ago ! I m french who learned english with no books, just watching TV and meeting english people ! Been working in english most of my life as a trucker and other jobs before that ! The Petro-Pass, yes small place, i slept there before a few times ! lol ! i ve been almost everywhere in Canada, zyzukon and NWT. The town you crossed half the video, that was Rimouski ! lol 🤠

Sorry to burst your bubble, sergebrunet4218, but the 2021 census puts Laval at about 440,000 people. That doesn't even crack the top 10 in Canada. Doesn't mean it isn't a nice place, though.

Well Josh... I'm kinda dissapointed. We could have met to chat and what not. You were 15 minutes away from my house. Guess you forgot. We could have grilled a steak in the parking lot, on an electric grill plugged into the outlet in my Ford Lightning 😊 As for range, they use 25 to 35 kwh per 100km without a trailer. There are 2 size of batteries, 98 kwh and 131 kwh. Let's average 30kwh/100km ÷ 98 kwh = 325ish km per full battery. With a trailer, it's just like gas, it uses more energy. Silverado EV can have a 200ish battery pack 😮

Many years ago I was in northern Sweden a French person noticed I was from Canada and wouldn't believe me that I couldn't speak French. We were both going to the train information kiosk. He tried asking for information about where the nearest bank might be in French only to get shrugs of not understanding from the attendant. He started to break into virtual charades, eventually I couldn't watch this torment any longer and asked in English where the nearest bank was. She angrily pulled out a map and circled the bank as I had ruined her fun.

Canada is not Kazakhstan with respect to bilingualism, with well over half the adult population of the Central Asian ex-Soviet Republic estimated to be bilingual in Kazakh and Russian as opposed to under 20% of the Canadian adult population estimated to be bilingual in English and French.

Most ppl in Quebec are very friendly and helpful but their are francophone's that give the rest of them a bad name. I found if i made an attempt at speaking french they would switch to English if they found me struggling or having to look up a word. Our high schools in Canada teach us french but not enough to converse with a french person, its more like a small childs level of french that we know and most of us forget it quickly soon as we leave high school
