Wow!!! That is quite the transformation! What an insane thing to come back from, she looks completely different! Most people would probably just throw her away but this really shows you can fix everything on a doll! Thank you for making such a fun little video

She really is transformed. I really did not think her body could be saved. But then I thought well, I can’t make it any worse so I guess I will try. I had never used a cleaner like liquid Bar Keepers Friend on a doll before and I do not recommend it unless it is a last resort. But with much effort and scrubbing I was able to irradiate the mold. She needed some paint touch ups after all the scrubbing but she came out beautifully. She taught me a lot about what I can do and should not do when cleaning the mold off a hard plastic doll. I learn something new from every one I try and save. 🥰

@@DIYDollArtist that’s very interesting, makes me wonder if I could find a doll with mold to save it, it probably wouldn’t be fun though

Thank you so much. I new it was mold when I bought her and thought the doll was a lost cause, but an original nylon Toni doll wig and dress were worth the money. I don’t think they thought she would sell as she did not cost very much. I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and liquid Bar Keepers Friend, which I would only use in the most extreme cases. I do not recommend it for cleaning a hard plastic doll in general. I decided to try and remove the hard mold any way that I could and with much effort I was successful. Her limbs needed the paint touched up but her face did not. There is not a video specifically about her as we did her restoration before we started making videos for KZbin but we did use her picture in the video on how to clean the mold off the outside of a hard plastic doll. We are very happy with her outcome. Thanks for watching!🥰

She is fabulous! And, mold free!! I bought a hard plastic baby doll recently on eBay..early 1950s. First time I have ever gotten a doll with mold that smelled. It was bad. Used soap and water..helped but smell still lingered. So, I did the vinegar. I soaked it...but then after lots of soaking found..it smelled like vinegar still with a hint of mold. So I packed the head and limbs with straight baking soda...that did it...baby doll is now odorless!! Has the vinegar smell lingered for you,? Tonya in Dallas ❤

If your baby doll was a painted hard plastic you can use peroxide or vinegar on the inside but never on the outsides because it can damage the paint. we have two videos on how to clean the insides and outsides of a hard plastic dolls. I have never soaked a Hard plastic doll in vinegar or peroxide. because of the paint . If you watch the videos they should help. The Oder can come from rusty metals and bacteria ,dirt or mold . you don’t have to leave the baking soda in your doll for a long time. But it does kill mold , bacteria and absorbs orders. but you want to fix what is causing the orders first. If you watch the videos and still have questions I’m more that happy to help. To answer what you need to know would be typing the videos. You will be able to fix this problem because you have already tried some good things. but it works best if you do it step by step as in the videos . We have soaked vinyl dolls but they are not painted dolls and the vinyl was cleaned after the soaking to remove the vinegar that kill the mold. They didn’t retain a vinegar smell. We are her if you need us.🥰❤️😘

Thank you, I really did not expect to be able to save her. It took a lot of work but when I started to see that with much effort I could remove the hard mold I decided I would try to save her. If it wasn’t for her gorgeous wig I probably wouldn’t have gotten her. She was a restoration that I did at the beginning of my Toni Doll restorations. Before 2 years I did not know they existed, now I think they are the prettiest and most resilient doll I have ever come across.🥰

Thank you very much that was so kind of you to say. I must say that this doll taught me so much. We never thought that she could be saved. So she was instrumental in the way we see all dolls no matter what condition they are in. we are very great full to have her ❤️😉🌺

Ladies that isn’t mold. It’s wax from the metal molds. The molds of hard plastic dolls were coated in wax so the parts could release easily from them. This white film is powdered wax and easily cleans off. It was mislabeled as mold many years ago and we all need to do our part by correcting this error.

I would really like to thank you for your comment. you were very kind to share . This is very hard for me to respond to because the last thing I would ever want to do is to upset or be perceived to be unkind to anyone. No person told me that what was on this doll and others like her was mold. The first time I ever saw this I knew it was mold. But others said it HPD. I didn’t see any signs of that but I still looked into it. It wasn’t HPD. HPD exists in some types of Hard Plastic and that plastic was produced in another country. I have only seen it in those dolls. I have decades of experience in different types of waxes and molds as well.waxes do leave behind a power type dust . What we are seeing on these dolls does not behave at all like wax residue . What’s on these dolls reproduces. If you miss the smallest spot it can and does completely take over again in time. Wax residue does not have an endless source.what we are dealing with if not taken care of appropriately will spread with no end. That in itself shows that what we are saying is mold is mold. If there was wax residue left on these dolls that residue on most played with doll’s would have worn of along time ago. I have a responsibility to the people that watch this channel to provide them with reliable information. That’s why I had to respond the way I have. I really care about other’s opinions and I always check that opinion out to see if it has merit. our videos for cleaning the inside and outside of Hard Plastic dolls will take care of mold or even wax . But if you treat your doll as if it just wax eventually problems will surface. The above are my opinions form from decades of experience. But everyone needs to make their own decisions on how to care for their own dolls and that’s the way it should be.🥰
