One interesting thing about the Romance genre is how your view of it can change over time. They used to bore me to death, because I thought "Nothing happens". I didn't see, trust, or really understand feelings back then, so all I saw was a bunch of people acting like idiots for reasons I couldn't understand. Then I got into writing and started taking therapy, and came to understand feelings a lot better. Since then, I've suddenly become a huge fan of romance. When a character does something that seems dumb, I'm suddenly super excited to find out what complex web of feelings and expectations caused them to do that. Instead of going, "This is dumb, that made no logical sense", I'd be like, "Oh! I get it. It's because he felt this way, but wishes he felt that way, and didn't want her to realize he feels this way, because then she'd feel that way." So, it's gone from being an exercise in frustration to being a fun puzzle to unravel.

@@RGC_animation True. It's possible, if it stagnates for too long and doesn't go anywhere. But, people simply do dumb things when under the influence of baggage and hang-ups, especially if they don't realize it yet. Still, I understand the frustration. I hate watching disaster movies because of all the screaming and irrational behavior people exhibit when they think they're at risk of dying. I think I tolerate it more in romance because I don't always pick up right away why characters act that way. Once it finally hits me, it's a moment of surprise clarity.

Makes makes Love is War so appealing is that they parody all the romcom tropes and then put all the styles of a shojo, battle shonen, and seinen as well. I mean there is a hell of a lot of foreshadowing. It first started out as a gag manga with two tsundere's playing mind games to confess then it morphed into working up the courage because they were scared as hell. Just the character development along with the great music of Masayuki Suzuki makes this series one the S tier series especially when we get to our four page glory in the anime.

It comes in waves. All depends on what sells atm and what needs to be advertised. If a manga sells well WITHOUT an anime to promote it, then why would you go and produce an anime for it? Also the little "mystery" element they add to it also solves my other problem with other harem animes which is the fact that they always make it seem like each of the girls has a chance with the MC when it's painfully obvious from episode 1 which girl they're gonna choose, whereas with Quintuplets I honestly didn't have much of an idea what to expect until it was nearing the end.

For me romance isn't important at all. Most romance in anime kinda mid. Unless it's a romcom drama anyway. Romance in anime is rarely if ever a love story, it's more like childish fantasy, not inherently bad but I can't truly value that, if it's not a romcom or if it's taking away from what I am watching a show for. Idk, it's a romcom or an actual romantic/SOL drama and there's no romance then sure, that'd probably suck, but if it's literally anything else, Idgaf even slightly. Also, I am a proud hater of harem, 99% of it anyway, even the good ones I don't really rate.. Similar thing with isekai romance, especially with the goofy premises, I cannot even man. I tried, but I can't anymore, if it ain't mad funny or carried by other aspects, then just bruh.. It's probably because I am too old to enjoy that kinda thing now or idk. I believe there are a variety of reasons as to why the boys don't care much about romance anymore. 1) there haven't been much good romance anime lately and most of the "romance" series are actually just dramas with romance or romcoms. 2) the boys are confusing romance with romcom. 3) they seem to forget that romance is a more subdued genre, it's works best as an add on to another genre or to flesh out the characters. And 4) because they have to give out their opinions online due to them being anitubers they always hyper analyze series to form an opinion of if it's good or bad and no longer can just sit down not care about how objectively good a series is and just enjoy the show.

Just plain superbly cute and wholesome with hilarious adorable moments. It's another teen school romance but I believe even adults can enjoy. It's relatable and nostalgic of your first love experiences, or which you wish you had. I hope that the anime studio does it justice, capturing the same vibe displayed in the manga. I'm looking forwards to you guys' impressions on it.

Then you would love "Oregairu". I just love this show, it's my favorite romance show, because the main male character provides exceptionally deep observations of human nature in his dialogues + he is an extremer loner, but not a dick at the same time + there is a HUGE character development between the first season and even the end of season 2 (if you ever heard the "I want something genuine" quote, then it's from "Oregairu"), even more development at the end of season 3 -- mostly for the main male character (Hachiman), but for 2 other main female characters too (Yukino and Yui). The story is completed (3 seasons), it has a satisfactory ending, so even though the author is doing something extra, it's not so necessary.

I think there's an irony in romance genre in anime, and that it's usually more interesting when the show is not tagged as romance anime, like let's say for example Vanitas - I really loved how Vanitas messes around with Jeanne it reminded me of the cat and mouse game Kaguya and Miyuki were playing with each other. Monogatari series bought like an interesting dynamic to the romance genre, where it's shown but to me it was more about subtlety and dynamics between characters. Then again, I'm not really into romance anime, harem anime on the other hand is just for me to see whether how they deal with the dynamic of it, because usually it irritates me that 1st girl barely gets any notice and I don't really wanna see it again, buuut... there's Monogatari and Bunny Girl Senpai so... I'm always looking forward to those...

Conner says he can't stand harems, but he loves Golden Boy, a show where the dude has six women chasing him by the end of the sixth episode. Are they saying nothing happens in Horimya? Man, in the anime the main couple go from hand-holding to confession to kissing to sex within 7 episodes. And the side characters are well developed as well. Sure nothing scandalous happens, but ti's a cut above other romcoms like Uzaki-chan. I'm disappointed to hear that the My Dress-Up Darling manga doesn't go anywhere. To be fair, I felt the lack of progression in the anime was fine because all of the dialogue and interactions were thematically tied together, giving the story weight which didn't require "confession-kiss-sex" progression. Biggest surprise for me this season is that Nagatoro season 2 has development (albeit slow). By episode six our boy, Senpai, basically asks Nagatoro out, which is more than can be said for the MC of Uzaki-chan at the end of it's second season. It does suck to run into an anime which has an interesting premise but no desire to develop it beyond the "will they, won't they (hold hands lol)" silliness i.e. Nisekoi. I enjoyed More Than A Married Couple But Not Lovers last season; it was good, but it's definitely at the phase now where if it gets a season 2 nothing plot-wise may happen, which would be a big piss-off. So far Tomo-chan is a Girl has been fun (cool premise and characters), but it definitely feels like the same "never gonna progress" feeling to it.

The small interactions between Loid and Yor are closer to what a healthy relationship looks like between a couple more than any of Loid and Fiona's interactions. They listen to each other and truly appreciate of each others support. Loid was truly appreciative when Yor told him he was doing a good job despite not being perfect when he was doubting himself because he is a perfectionist for example. Loid saw how Yor was feeling after the tennis match with Fiona and shared something about his childhood to encourage her. Not every person who are single think that way when watching romance stuff, you know? I’m single and I watch a lot of romance stuff. And I feel fine since I’m not interested in finding a partner at the moment. Though I do want to experience it but not for a while.

It is escapism to those lonely people which is why you will never get anything realistic.

Half of the time It's more like copium for lonely people (more specific lonely weebs) Like a struggle to keep beliving in the word "love" and don't turn themselves into a bitter, nihilist, myssantropist, edgy piece of "S"
@electricburst0986 Жыл бұрын
@@KASHKUR_7.62 personally I would of thought it would get people more bitter seeing the biggest loser of all time getting the hottest girls of all time and your sitting there can’t even get any girl at all not even an “ugly” one. It would just make them feel like a even bigger loser then they already did knowing even people that don’t exist can more gfs then you

The last anime I've actually watched for the romance alone is spice and wolf. Like Connor said, I don't most anime authors actually had a relationship before, or if they did, they were never allowed to portray it.

well thats actually the best one and the Light Novels are one of the few well written and somehow JenPress actually found someone that translated it well.

Some people aren’t in it for the romance but for the romanticisation of romance, no one would actually care to watch an actual romance, that’s why it’s always the will they or won’t they until it reached the “I love you” then done, they want the suspense even though they know how it’s going to play out. It’s a lot like a tragedy but instead of being in suspense of how something is going to end badly it’s the suspense of how it’s going to end with them being happy, because in a tragedy there’s the hunch that something is going to happen badly since minute one and in a “romance” you know it’s going to end with them together, it also seems that the most popular tragedies seem to incorporate a romance plot in some way.

After watching the Kaguya movie last night, I have one thing to say... "All this ordinary and boring stuff...is romantic to me."

Wtf is Joey talking about nothing happened in Horimiya? It went from nothing to kiss to sex in 7 episodes and explored a lot of interesting concepts. I still love watching the pod for their perspectives on Japanese stuff but their perspective on anime has been garbage for a year or two now since they barely even watch any. I guess Trash Taste really is a fitting name. And you're not fooling anyone Garnt, 7/10 of your anime of the year end up being romance anime lol.

Maybe what they meant is post-Ch. 37 (or EP7) Horimiya. Just a buncha nothing SOL. I still enjoyed the SOL moments.

Mb Garnt can try watching romance animes like "Love is like a Cocktail" it's a wholesome anime about a married couple, you can even learn how to make new drinks for your SO.

The only Harem anime that I can still watch even a little, are Highschool DxD and The World God Only Knows. TWGOK really needs a season 4, but we're also likely never going to get it 😢

That final argument just remembered me that my nephew liked Blue Lock so I bought him volume 2. Then I looked how many there are. 23 and ongoing??? How many did they need to tell a story??? Maybe it's because in my country mangas are like 10 times their price, but to me, any manga with more than 10 volumes is a masterpiece or money wasted.

Blue Lock makes since with how long it is, since it's going from highschool players to the literal best, but yeah, it could be a little shorter, just by a few chapters tho

@@Orion_44 I mean, I love haikyuu and it's as long as blue lock could be. But even in haikyuu I think 45 volumes it's too many.

@@carlostenelgym that's fair, I'm used to just reading them online, I'd imagine it's different if you want to have all the volumes personally
