Jon and Alex Nield are two of United's best-known and most passionate fans, travelling up and down the country to watch the Reds, including the academy sides. Despite Alex having cerebral palsy the two are seen at practically every game. They won't be attending United's home game against Barcelona however as following the PSG game they don't feel safe. For PSG, like many other European games, the away fans were put in front of the disabled section. The PSG fans ripped down the netting in front of them and setting off flares, screaming abuse at United supporters and intimidating some of those sat in the disabled section. Jon says he doesn't feel safe enough to take Alex to Old Trafford for the Barcelona game and has called on the club to take action. Full Time Devils spoke to Jon and Alex and has joined them in urging the club to take the necessary steps to make everyone feel welcome. I think the problem is probably more at UEFA's door than United. UEFA have certain requirements that differ from domestic games which most likely limits where the away fans can be placed somewhat

@@SimonWakefieldUK Pretty sure Barcelona still put the away fans in the gods though. I think we put Barca in tier 2 in 2008.
@SimonWakefieldUK5 жыл бұрын
@@20timesmanunited20 It's most likely more complicated than just putting them up in the gods though. There is most likely nothing that prevents them being put up there on its own but when coupled with the other requirements it makes placing them there difficult especially as in the CL while the club only has to give 5% of the capacity to away fans unlike the PL's 10% the PL has an upper limit of 3000 whereas the CL doesn't so for CL we have to provide the away team with 500 more tickets than PL sides which may cause issues with the secure segregation requirements. Oh and there is also the fact that UEFA require away allocation placement to be named at the start of the season and it cant be changed so its not like they could try another location even if it was viable to move them elsehwere Also its possible that Barca have been given special dispensation on the placement just like in the PL Newcastle are exempt due to special dispensation to some of the away fan placement rules

1st of all, I want to say how lucky Jon and Alex are so lucky to have each other. Their love for each other shines through. 2nd - PSG owes them and all the people who were impacted by their fans' behaviour an apology. They might want to focus on that instead of getting upset that Evra was joyous about United winning the match. 3rd - United has had enough time to come up with a solution for all disabled fans. The other solution is someone who has a private box invite Alex and his dad for the match.

Excellent video guys, least someone is speaking out to the club after what happened with PSG so well done to them, followed alex and Jon for a while now and was surprised how passionate they are towards man united, as i am to but to see that happen for them in the psg game was an absolute disgrace, i mean come on who's bright idea was it to put them in the same stand where they have been for hundreds and hundreds of games now and have the special night (even though we got beat ) cut short because PSG fans can't show respect towards our disabled fans ? Was a step to far in my eyes and gutted for them they won't be watching barca game i would be to, but like you said am all for putting any away fans no matter what team is, in that stand they mentioned and have have that section as the disabled fans stand or something like that so that there away from the disabled fans and cant cause any damage, and it was ridiculous that we got charged by uefa to when mostly it was PSGS fans fault i wasn't at the game myself, but because apparently we "Blocked" the stair ways i mean REALLY ? On any matchday like that its going to be over crowded anyway you look so it can't be helped, It was just disturbing if thats the right term to see them leaving at half time crying and upset because you have a bunch of uncontrollable hooligans that like to cause damage and make them leave. If that happens again during the barca game they will be riots at old trafford mark my words, and the fans won't be happy they need to sort it ASAP before the barca game.

My Dad is in a wheelchair as of this season so we’ve just become part of MUDSA and have been attending games as and when we get tickets in the ballot. This is an absolute joke response from the club but also doesn’t surprise me, we’ve known for years that Old Trafford has desperately needed some attention for the fans and not just shiny corporate boxes and areas. Funny how I’ve seen countless times that OT is “totally covered” - except the disabled section that gets absolutely soaked every time it rains. Not through sideways driving rain, but by the roof not being quite big enough to cover the East stand behind the goal. Spurs have had basically a brand new stadium, United can’t even bring themselves to look after disabled fans - or even get out a paintbrush every now and again and make the place look like it’s not been touched since the 60s.
