I don't think you'll destroy it but I'd be interested in seeing a drop from the titan T2 for a comparison side to side... If anything I predict a slight bend in the pipe safeties but I think it will still be a completely useable rack... This is a great reason why you should rely on reviews over what the manufacturer iclaims. Materials, design, and build quality matter who wants a rack so poorly designed you can't bench inside and if you fail may break? This rack was so poorly designed which is enough to stay away but the choice of material and the lying about the guage steel is even more reason to run away. When running away look less scared than Adrian did here.

Do a Clean test on cheaper bars where the weight is dropped from chest hight. How do they hold up to being dropped with weight over and over before the collars come apart. Second test is how many you can do before you crack and come apart. :)

I was the first to see it when we went to their HQ and also the first to review it. We have two dedicated vids on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYPHm31-eqyreZI and kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppS8gJ-setqkbNE it's a solid rack. Essentially a clone of the RML. Rogue's rack is nicer but it's more expensive and functionally the same. Bells attachments are much cheaper but there's a few like their rollers that I don't like.

My home cage is a Body-Solid GPR378 that I got at a local fitness store for about $500. The steel is the as-listed 11 gauge and just shy of 3 inches (round down to metric equivalent). Does well for me, since few racks will fit in my basement due to the ceiling height. The 3 inch hole spacing requires an occasional workaround, but the actual one & 3/8” holes perfectly accept a one inch piece of black iron plumbing from the hardware store enabling me to make my own attachments. I discarded the main safety rails that came with (heavy-duty but clumsy to move) and instead use the mentioned 1” plumbing with lengths of 1” cold-rolled steel hammered down the length of them.

What would be cool, a more accurate use test and probably a bit of nightmare to design would be a test that dynamically dropped weight from 2 inches onto the j cups but 100 times. Usually there's welds on the j cups and in theory the metal next to weld should be the weakest point.

I wonder of that would have held up to let's say 225lb drop. I have a rack that is basically the same as this one and I was planning on upgrading at the point that I am using 225lbs on the rack. I bought the rack knowing that I'm an absolute beginner and as such likely unable to damage the rack. Mine has the steel bar for safeties which I feel would fair better. Lmao this makes the other $200 amazon rack look so good. My question is, do the straps actually raise the chance of the rack bending like that? The other tests I've seen have the rod safeties. Which got bent, but the rack didnt bend. The strap safeties pull inward. Not that it really matters because I cant squat 800lb's so I'm not going to bail an 800lb squat and bend my rack.
@GlucksGym Жыл бұрын
I think they do. The pin pipe safeties would distribute the load differently whereas the straps transfer it directly to the uprights.

Actually it showed that the cheap flimsy rack would have saved your life. The test was as if someone was performing a squat and had a catastrophic failure such as knee blowout or something. The rack and safeties stopped the barbell from crushing that person as they fell to the ground.

Credit where it’s due: those safety straps held on for dear life. That rack is a hazard. Even 200 lb dropping on there would be dicey based on this test. And if you had repeated drops, it would just be a matter of time before the frame failed or the threads wore out the straps.
