There are 3 or 4 such cave-business systems throughout KC. There is a smaller one off of 31st and SW-BLVD and there is a refrigerated/freezer/cold storage cave out in Independence, MO which is a suburb of KC. There are also some WW2 storage caves and systems under downtown KC that are not accessible to the Public. Some go back as far as prohibition and were speakeasy's.

Wow, I figured there had to be more places like this. I had no idea there was so many more. I find it all so fascinating. Thank you for sharing that information with me. Have you been to many of them?
@sirretsnom3329 Жыл бұрын
@@Lady_Ferns I have been to all the open ones I have mentioned for a variety of reasons. Some were for deliveries when I was a delivery driver, there was once a car auction in one, there was a swap-n-shop in another. There was even a tunnel from one of the major banks downtown to the stock yards at the West Bottoms that they used to open up on occasion for tourism that was a speakeasy route for running liquor and other nefarious items as well as a casino back when KC was ran by mobsters in the 20s.

There are a LOT of other such caves in the Kansas City Metro area. It leads the nation in underground storage... Things stored range from groceries and frozen foods to Part of the National Archives, the post office has their rare stamps for Philatelist (stamp collectors). Film studios have their rare film masters and anything you can imagine. All because the area sits on a major Limestone deposit.

Been to the cave many timrs, and each and every time we exited I was elated, way too freaky in there, and the thought of a cave in and being entombed makes me happy that I am part owner of a business that couldn't afford to rent one square yard of that complex :)
@richreicher26797 ай бұрын
I have lived here all my life and have had jobs in all of the underground warehouse complexes here in the area. They are not creepy or dark (a bit humid) and are totally safe from tornados and fires. No windows to daydream out of and cell phones dont work there so you can actually get production out of employees in them. There simply are no distractions. All of them are old limestone mines.

Clark Hunt already holds title to that position, and I heard he's a Ninja Master and very proficient in the use of nunchucks, so if you can overcome his mastery in the art, then I'll support your villainy, but until then you are no more than a pawn in the evil game of power and corruption ... (if you're seriously interested in being a villain, then call 911 and ask for a direct connection to the bat cave, it's a much smaller cave on the Kansas side near Wolcott, it's where me and the other Midwest Superheroes hang out)

This is the first time I've been to your channel. Two things I appreciate. Your camera was mounted and steady, not some jerky janky cell phone stuff. And you didn't endlessly chatter repetitively like most KZbinrs feel they must.

Kansas City Mo & Kansaa City KS, although sharing many miles of border, NO, its NOT the same city....KCK has consolidated with Wyandotte County has become the " Consolidated Goverment of Wyandotte County".....electing its own council and Mayor.....while KCMO has its own Mayor & City council. Its all part of the KCMO-KCK-Overland Park Metropolitan Area.

Also, Worlds of Fun AND Oceans of Fun are located directly above! Not on this tour is Pillsbury freezer that is on the same site and is located next to it, but has a separate entrance. Because it is a giant freezer and needs to be closed off. It is considered to be the largest underground freezer in the world.
