We finally did this for Jack...

I’ve been wanting to do this for a Jack for a long time. He’s been riding an electric bike for the past year, but I think every kid deserves a pedal bike. He’s been asking about one for the last couple of months and we finally decided to get him one for an early birthday day / potty training present. It’s a little big but I think he’ll grow into it and love it. Thank you all so much for the love and support. And especially for supporting Sarah’s launch with Rellery! It’s okay to fall when riding a bike. I did it many many times. You learn, and struggle, but it builds confidence, strength, and mostly endurance to handle unpleasant events. Jack is going to do well with his new bike, from the looks of it and yes, he’s got more room to grow on it! You are correct about that fall that Jack had! Great job in not getting excited about the little falls. Even the ones that causes little cuts, scrapes and bruises are not a bad thing. Teaches kids a lot. They will be able to get back up, much easier from other “life’s falls”, compared to their counterparts who have been bubble wraped and coddled all their lives.

Yes. If you don't have any injuries or scars from childhood, you didn't have a really good childhood & probably will lack memories of it. Taking risks and learning to be tough mentally are important too.

I think you made the right choice with the larger bike. He has some experience and he will grow fast. Teaching kids that falling is a part of it, how to fall and where to fall is important for their safety. The only thing I would recommend is knee pads, especially if he's in shorts. I’ve never seen crepes made like that 😂 we always just use a normal pan and put 1/2 cup of so into the pan and tilt it around until it covers rhe pan

I taught 3 - 5yr olds and a 3 yr old. Two were my children including the 3yr old. I did it about 3 hours. I took them to an empty parking lot removed the pedals and told them if you get scared put your feet down that’s your safety net. I had them roll as far as they without putting they’re feet down. I made a game to see who could keep their feet off the ground the longest. Once they all had their balance I put the pedals back on and they rode without anyone holding them

If Jack finds it too hard to peddle such a big bike just get him the next size down and he’ll grow into the bigger one. He’s got great balance but the bike is too big for him which makes it a lot harder to peddle….it’s certainly nothing he’s doing wrong it’s just too big. If he continues to struggle it’s a lot easier to get him a bike that fits him than to have him keep struggling and risk ruining the fun of peddle biking for him. You’re certainly not the first parent to buy the wrong size bike but it can be fixed.He’s only four so it takes a lot of strength to be able to peddle a bike bigger than him and then also be able to keep up with other kids who are riding bikes that fit them. He’ll grow into it eventually….there might even be a return policy on the one you bought. I do agree that it’s not terrible letting kids fall and encouraging them to get up and keep going. He’s protected with gloves and a helmet but having said that he should have a bike that fits him. The other one that you saw would be perfect. Congratulations again Sarah on your jewelry line.The pieces I’ve seen are beautiful,you should be very proud.

I kinda agree with the falling part. with my 2.5 year old boy i´ve been a bit strict with him climbing stuff when he is a bit unsteady in him self. But now, when he loves to balance, i allow him to climb stuff where i can fall, if i think he can fall "safely", with just a bruise or small scrape. Like, i let him try to climb a slide, which he ofcouse slipped and fell on with a bruise on his head. I saw it coming, i let him fall, and just said "Whoops, what happend? Why did it happend?" (semi-accurat translation). I want him to wanna try stuff, but also think about the consequenses. Im not gonna let him climb the house just yet though, might leave that for next year.. ;)
