@@gossgorl This is based on what I was able to understand so I may be wrong. I believe he was a prisoner of war held by the Saddam regime in Iraq while fighting for Kurdish forces (as part of a US-backed (?) group). He was held for nine years and was tortured as a PoW. Important to note that historically, the Kurdish people have been subject to discrimination and persecution by Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran so it’s likely his life was not easy even before the war. He mentions how many members of his family were killed / are dead. He came to US in 97-98 and worked for some time, then due to some issues with his hands (?) he was unemployed and and has been living as “low income” since. He also mentions that his mother was in ill health (when he talks about the police chase) and recently passed away. He leans on his family for financial support. He also says he is disabled.
@ariq78912 жыл бұрын
@@gossgorlI won’t pretend like i understand all the history behind it, but a lot of his family was killed by sadam hussein and he was captured and tortured for like a decade because of his religion (hence his aversion to muslims). Did you understand when he was explaining why Muslims can’t donate to him?
@MissPortuga20092 жыл бұрын
@@Marz_000 yes I do. Obviously he has more reason than anyone to hate Muslims. I understand that hate because war is something that changes you. I wasn’t there when the war started but the feeling of impotence of not being able to help (what help could I provide, but even still you feel it), being desperate because you can’t contact everyone for days because the internet is not working and all you think about is your family being killed by bombs, soldiers or biological weapons (yes, it happened and no one talks about it). For me personally, i don’t trust Turks, except Hassan cause I’m a simp. I know generalizing is wrong and I’m working on it, but my family and my people suffered too much at the hand of Turks for no reason other than power. So if I feel reluctant every time I see a Turk, imagine Wally P when he encounters a Muslim. I know he knows that deep down the majority of Muslims are good people, and in my case I like to believe the majority of Turks are too, specially since I saw Hassan talking about how a lot of them (more than I thought) are against their regime. But when something like that happens to you… you’ll always have your guard up.

When I was a cast member at Disneyland, I was trained to try to make “magical moments” for guests whenever possible sometimes by giving the guests an experience they wouldn’t normally get, as long as everyone is safe. I think the cast member that let them up on the stage did a great job. The other cast member ruined their magical moment and was rude while doing it by grabbing the ring. He could have 100% let her say yes and then walked up given them a little applause and escorted them off the stage.

@GriffinLisuk2 жыл бұрын
@@keshafreak1019 I wasn’t the best at creating magical moments cause I was just a buss boy so You can imagine I wasn’t super enthusiastic, but on a few occasions, quieting everyone in the restaurant to announce a couples anniversary/ someone’s birthday. Stuff like that, to make the guests day special. One minor example of slightly breaking the rules to make a magical moment was when I would trade pins with guests my lead gave me 2 really nice glittery tinker bell pins and told me next time a little girl wanted to trade with me to give her a tinker bell pin for free to make her day magical. I know these obviously aren’t as crazy a situation as the proposal clip, but just to give an example of bending the rules to make a guest’s day!
@DanHarkless_Halloween_YTPs_etc2 жыл бұрын
Not to mention his ultra-insulting attempt at a Jedi mind trick with "Yes, that's great, but over here it's gonna be even better!" Not sure what the relevant laws are in France, but in the U.S., the cast member could be prosecuted for running in and seizing their property like that. (Although with all the back-alley deals the Anaheim government power-brokers have recently been exposed for orchestrating with Disneyland, the couple would probably have to turn to a civil lawsuit for satisfaction. Can't imagine the situation over in Florida is much better.)
@DanHarkless_Halloween_YTPs_etc2 жыл бұрын
@@lizard6576 Nonsense. In the video, the guy says something like "she said it'd be OK", while pointing to someone. I'd also argue that the couple could easily be _more_ likely to trip and fall when some lunatic has just run in and snatched away their engagement ring, their train of thought has been totally disrupted during a super-emotional moment, and they're being ordered to quickly descend stairs. Someone posted in another thread that they had a similar experience, at WDW, I believe, where they had to ask a couple of different CMs before one said yes, and they quickly did the proposal in the restricted area before any less permissive CMs had time to come in and shut them down. That's ridiculous for you to just pronounce that no CM at any Disney park could possibly ever say yes to such a request.

And I get it, generalizing against a group of people is a no, but when you add real PTSD it’s always there no matter what even deep personal work. I appreciate viewers of this channel understanding that and not “canceling” him. PTSD is brutal and vast majority of people won’t get it.
@blush64902 жыл бұрын
@@qwertyhimym I think that comparing Mormonism to Islam isn’t the same. The issues with Islam are way more complex. I understand he has PTSD and that the Kurdish are oppressed people but so are many other Muslim groups. My family has faced trauma at the hand of other Muslims but are still Muslim, as with many other Muslim people. It’s obvious that Wali is dogmatic regardless of his trauma. Edit: also the fact that he still argues against the Muslim faith in favor of other Abrahamic religion despite having lived in a hotspot of three abrahamic religions and many different sects only goes to confirm that he’s simply hateful. There are so many argumentative points between the three that holding any of the beliefs as invalid in favor of another is just wrong.

Just regarding Waleed - At the time of the war hes talking about (Iran-Iraq war) Saddam Hussein was conducting a genocide against the Kurdish people from the late 1970s and late 1980s. He talks about the mass killings with the machine guns but Saddam Hussein also used chemical weapons against the Kurds (which is what the US used as their evidence to invade Iraq in 2003). He would have been severely traumatised over his capture and I actually can’t imagine the pain he went through as a Kurd at the time. (Additional: I am Persian and my father was in the Iranian Airforce and served in the same war. Also, the Kurdish people are currently still being marginalised and discriminated against in Iran.)

Kurds are a persecuted minority by many countries and horrific atrocities are committed to them both historically and actively in the modern day. @@LK-sy3klfirstly, that still doesn't make it wholesome. Secondly, as a Palestinian and as a Muslim, I wish people in the west had similar compassion for confused Muslims with anti-zionist or anti-american sentiments. This comment section has basically 0 Wali criticism- but imagine, had Wali experienced PoW status as a Palestinian at Israeli hands and said the same things he said but against Jews. The man said he put the Qur'an to his feet and knows the extreme statement that is because he is from the region. I come from a family of displaced Palestinians, and push back against anti-semitism whenever I see it. Seemingly however this community is happy to accept blatant and vile islamaphobic behaviour and then liken to a general trauma response? Maybe I'm being unreasonable and overly sensitive but you have to atleast try meet me half way and see that this would not be accepted if he was talking about most other marginalized groups, from Jews, to homosexuals, to black people.
