My family are Italian, they came to Venezuela (South America) during the WW2. The town were they stayed for years and the one who they helped to build is very similar to your town and is very similar to their town in Pren, Italy. I see the mountains, the plants, the cloudy skies and I feel like is my home town! I wish you all, all the best, nothing better than nature, trees, fruits, wood and stones to rise happy and healthy kids!

I think I would spray the walls you’re going to insulate with a water vinegar solution even though you’re not going to pressure wash them. That would freshen them up and deter bugs as well as eliminate any built up fungus.

You two work well and haven't forgotten how to play well together! Such a good example for your children to follow in their own future marriages. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Agreed on the stone washing but not so much on too much visible stones inside the house. These old houses use dark stones and have small windows. If kept as is it will produce a dark interior. At least you can mitigate that by using light colored mortar to fill in the gaps and keep at least half of the walls plastered. Too much dark stone will make it feel like a dungeon and the best substrate for dust settling and spiders. Trust me...i've been there.
@pliny8308
@pliny8308 Жыл бұрын
I completely agree. We had these old stone buildings on our property, and it does feel like a dungeon if you don't plaster like 2/3 of the walls.
@thomaskramer440
@thomaskramer440 Жыл бұрын
Insulating and plasterering the interior walls (with clay, or hemp) also will create a warmer climate and athmosphere inside the rooms. Stone walls remain cold even with heating, and accumulate dust and dirt. On the other hand, why do you insulate and plaster the outer side of the stone walls? Beware, the house will lose its charming look and character!

Construction site theft is an issue even back here in the United States. Many construction companies either own or rent, shipping containers to house their tools and to lock them up. I'm just surprised that it's happening in a rural area where people typically look out for each other.

My wife and I enjoy your family and the adventure you are on. We are slowly catching up on videos in no particular order. We just finshed the numbering and tearing up the main floor. Wifey said to remind you of the cart/dolly brake we use. Put a power cord, like the one on a desktop computer in front of the wheels to stop a dolly from rolling. Wifey wondered what the girls thought of the horse blocking the road -- bet they missed seeing them.
