In this video I teamed up with my Dad for a fun adventure searching for antique treasures from the turn of the century! We went looking for an old bottle dump in a Georgia town founded in the late 1800's and ended up finding some interesting treasures!

That tiny blue Milk o'Mag bottle was really cool, and so was the amber poison bottle! So glad you've found a new honey hole for bottles. Hope you find lots more bottles there, and thanks for taking us along again. :)

As someone who works in branding I’m always impressed by just how old many brands are. Occasionally, even the shape of the containers hasn’t changed much.

I too am in advertising. Signs to be more to the point. I started in the trade back before the cutters and digital. Everything I worked on was painted by hand and some silk screening. I love the older stuff just because of the skill. Back then layout and design was KING. I’m not knocking the technology however anyone can get into reproducing simple graphics and signs. But without putting the effort into a eye pleasing design there are a lot of how should I say not the best work I’ve ever seen. So I had to comment to you because I know you know what I am talking about. I don’t know what it is you do but I appreciate what input you shared. 🧑🏻‍🎨

From watching mudlarking in England videos I see that some of those people make things out of the bottles with broken tops. They use a bottle cutter to take the broken tops off and use the bottom part of the bottles for pen/pencil holders. I've also seen some of them cut off just the bottoms of the bottles and use them to make bottle windows or inset them in wood to make a sun catcher. I know you are doing craft projects with the blue/white porcelain pieces you find. Maybe you should invest in a bottle cutter. I bet you could make some beautiful things.

Great finds dude, I love that embossed flask! A couple thoughts regarding searching that site, I've noticed that the point furthest back from a dump site typically holds the oldest material (bottles, etc). Also, look around for any depressions or low spots in the ground, these could indicate a hole which was dug to contain trash and was subsequently filled in. I found a low area while hunting on the Maryland eastern shore. The depression had lots of old rusty cans and broken bottles strewn about so I dug a test hole in the middle. After removing lots'o crap I hit paydirt, so to speak. Good luck!

Hey man, I have a dump up North, I used to find a ton of bottles from the 1850s to about 1914. The poison bottle has ridges on the corners in case you were illiterate or blind you knew it was poisonous. The one poison bottle that you do want to find is a cobalt blue in the shape of a human skull, that one is worth quite alot, you would be occupied for a whole decade around my area. I'm just getting a little to old to be out there digging anymore. I dug there for about 12 years.

Your Dad is amazing. I knew you would find stuff when I saw he was there. I dubbed him the Bottle Bloodhound! Buck head is always a good score. That Moultrie coke is rated S+ in Bill Porters Coke bottle check list. That is one of the nu-grapes that had the embossed grapes, they were ordered to remove. Good stuff you two! I first rake the leaf debris off. Probe where you can see things on the surface.if things are just under the surface i push the probe at a sharp angle just under surface of the grounds to locate near surface things.

Yay! Another great bottle adventure! Looks like you got the technique for that particular area figured out. Maybe a machete should be included in your tool kit? Those were some nasty looking vines. My buddy and I found a decent 8 point dead head looking for arrowhead’s over the summer and I boiled it, bleached it and mounted it on a arrowhead plaque I have, it turned out pretty good I think for my first attempt, found a beaver skull and a goat skull out in the woods as well, unfortunately the goat skull no longer had it’s horns, not sure what it was doing out in the woods, people suggested satanic rituals lol, idk but I like collecting skulls and displaying them with my arrowheads, I enjoy and appreciate you scavenge for a variety of artifacts, I live in North Georgia and recently watched your fossil collecting video from up here, I’d like to know that location, Thanks For Sharing, Happy New Year, GL&HH 👊🏹

To my knowledge, the US does not have any 'mudlarking' or bottle digging restrictions... other than, digging on private property. The British Bottle diggers go at a dump with shovels and gusto... and it drives me nuts. For soft soils, I would use a rake; for deep solid dirt, you'll need a shovel...but your rod seems the better tool to me.
