This is literally my worst fear. I was attacked by a poodle as a child and worked very hard to overcome my own issues. I thought long and hard before adding a canine to my life but my little pup wouldn't stand a chance against two aggressive large dogs. Maybe it is time for pepper spray in addition to the prayers for our safety.

I also just say "no" cleary and strongly, confidently without screeching in fear while standing in front of my dog. This happened to my dog..the dogs were aggressive..the dogs froze when i did that. Also my timing was good. I did it right when the dog's were about to pounce so they were surprised by my "no". I always read my "roon" so i can be prepared. The owners that you encountered are not prepared or being thoughtful.

I couldn’t agree more. Hopefully it never happens to you again but you know, irresponsible people.

great job ...in my situation I had my husky being chased by a fighting pit. I sat on the pit. Her brothers are 1 pit, 1 rotweiller and 1 German Shepherd but they were all barking at her for charging at my husky. I had to sit on the aggressive pit, "NO" to the other dogs and then check on my own dog. It could have gone terriby wrong. But my Anaya was fine and Kona was put in her crate. But I felt terrible about the whole thing. It drained me. But has made me smarter now.

I have been charged before. I’ve had dogs run up and attack my dogs when on a walk. 2 things .... Pepper spray and walking stick taser.

My state has a law against tasers and other shock devices. All I can recommend is the use of heavy sleeves for the arms and chain gloves that loggers wear to protect their hands. I would not go as far as wearing a hockey mask in public, but do what you need to do to protect yourself.

Like Mark said, protect yourself and your dog. God only knows what I would do if my dogs lives were being threatened.

For those that have a timid dog, especially a younger dog, wouldn't it be productive to walk out and greet the charging dogs, maybe with treats? Show your pup how they should react to new "friends" coming over? I guess I'm asking what to do when your own dog isn't trained, and obviously the others are not either. I believe your pup will key off you, their trusted friend, so if you panic and pick up the dog and turn away and do all the things someone afraid of charging dogs do (perfectly normally), your dog will pick up on that and that is how they will treat new dogs in the future. I'm not condoning the "badhavior" of the other dogs, but it seems like some of the responses I've read in other forums will lead to full-on leash aggression and lack of socialization in your own pup.

There should have never been a second time from the other people. If my dog were to ever run after someone, the leash would be going back on immediately.
@AltheDogTrainer3 жыл бұрын
Isn’t that the truth! Oh, they did have their leashes on. SMH

Although Luna has basic obedience training I would never take her out in a public space like that without her being on leash I just couldn’t take that chance with her or myself

It’s the responsible thing to do. At some point, y’all will be so well practiced that you’ll have all the control you need. :)

Thanks for posting this my 11 month old husky was attacked twice by the same pit. The second time the pit had a muzzle and both times I F*%$*'n sat on her! My dog is ok but she did not know what to do. She did not fight back so I had to protect her. But in this case how do I train my dog for when she is possibly (hopefully never again) attacked?Thanks for your video. I am new to your channel

a week ago a retarted GSD decided to attack my puppy GSD for whatever reason and I almost killed the other dog. Shit is tough and bring a knife just in case because it's your duty to protect your GSD no matter what's the case

That is the most mild rant ever. I have no tolerance for bad dog owners, that behavior is inexcusable. Yes, me and mine have been charged, by “friendly” dogs and dogs looking for trouble. I hate that. Stupid people.

I’ll take that as a compliment. :) No human or dog is going to make me lose my cool. ❤️
