Tungsten has such heavy atoms... you need a ton of it to form enough carbides to make a difference... IMHO they should just move on to a better steel for their standart line up and leave VG-10 behind... I would go for Niolox (SB1)

Thank you, this was great. My Canadian supplier had the W and original versions available with the W version being $35 Cad more than the original. Seems not worth the extra money based on your real world tests. I guess the real question, as you ask, is whether Falkniven will replace with W and maintain same price or raise the price based on costing. A worse case scenario is that they increase price beyond the actual cost on hype claiming superior attributes when in reality the superior attribute is a minor improvement. Great job guys!

Vg10 with a great heat treatment is really good. Rivals that of s30v and even alot of mass production m390. Budget heat treatment Vg10 on the other hand is not at that level. Heat treatment is key here. But adding components can help change the properties a tiny bit too.

Fallkniven is coming out with a test run of F1's in VG10Wolf with 1.25% tungsten. Much higher than VG-10W's .40%. time will tell how this works out. They made the R2 Scout in Elmax , and I was hoping the F1 will come out in Elmax too someday. I bet they will fly off the shelves. Glad to see that they are trying different steels , and good old vG-10 is an awesome user steel just as is. Nice to see some other options though. Thank you guys.

I thought VG-10W & VG-MAX are the same steel. Sad to say I don’t have experience using VG-10W on my daily prep & also sharpening it. I owned a Shun premier nakiri and 255mm gyuto it feels glassy on the wet stones when I sharpen it nearly identical to my R2 kato gyuto compared to a regular VG-10 and Gin-3. I will going to try CoS I heard many good reviews about that steel. Good video have a nice day stay safe😁

Okay, thanks for being honest, they need to listen to your input and adding stuff does cost, hopefully they'll not stop here and get it right🤔!!! Being an "RKCM" as always, I'm keeping "everything I have crossed" in hope of being chosen (personally I don't trust "yt" as they've proven themselves very biased🤬), so it'll not happen for me, this I'm sure!🤨 (I'd be so pleased to win a Super Freak🤗!) Some make it more difficult than it needs to be. Here's a hint: L•"if"•e. Now it wasn't that hard after all, was it! Hope that your finger is okay by now. Have fun and "be a bit safer, okay"? Take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 👍👍🙏😇👊
