I was selling my house and found out that there was still a lien from a loan the prior owners had, their bank had not released it. I called the attorney and title company and luckily for me it was just an "oversight" that they had not followed up to ensure the lien was released at closing when it was paid off. I had all my paperwork showing this should have been done 7 years prior but they still charged me to get it done so I could close!!!

Thanks for sharing. Very informative indeed. So what's the lesson from your experience? You mentioned that you had gotten title insurance on ALL your projects, till now. Are you saying title insurance is a scam and that you have stopped getting it? I've always been skeptical about getting it for my flips since I hold them only for a few months. But I still get it because "and that's why you need title insurance"! 😊
