Very excited to share with you the birth of Renata, our baby girl! After leaving the boat in Florida over hurricane season, we spend the summer preparing for the addition to our crew. We finish a room at Kirk’s parents, add a third car seat to Chip the van, and go on the hunt for a piece of earth to call our own.

I always cry with tears of joy being able to witness a new life come into the world like this. We lost our first two at birth, the third was unfortunately hit by a car and died at 29, and my son will be 50 on his next birthday. Life is such a precious thing, enjoy every minute with this little one

We recently purchased a house in the little Eastern NC town where we keep our boat and VW Vanagon. Having a home base in the place you love is wonderful! After helping to raise three daughters I only have one parenting tip, treat your daughter for the rest of your life like you did on the first day. It’s not going to be easy, in fact it will be the hardest thing you have ever done. Especially about the age of 13. Congratulations!

One thing that is cool is that my family has a bassinet that has been handed down for generation and every baby that has slept in it has their name on it w an engraved placard. I think there is now 20+ names on it. Very cool tradition.

Brilliant video-perhaps your very best--imho. Honest,,,real,,,and congrats on your new surprise daughter! About 35 years ago, ours was a 'surprise', too. We named her after a lady in our birthing class, and it was only after she was born/named that we discovered the latina's classmate's name was Renate', not how we spelled our daughter's name, like yours- Renata. Your beautiful daughter's name is the second I've seen that is spelled the same way. We share other similarities--a love of traveling, sailing, Michigan, and we both--NY here--have hideous female governors. (Sorry--couldn't resist.)

Well congratulations on the newborn baby girl big girl. Well you already have a taste of what it’s like it’s amazing how quickly they in mature so keep a close ion her and dad I love what you’re doing but make sure you get ur teachings correct I pretty much raised two of my Grandchildren from birth so the parents could go to work so I babysit a lot every single day they got up from their naps I took them to the alphabet and numbers board when I got them up. I’d say that was worth everything. Best of luck graduations again Patience is a virtue remember that. Could you look like you’re having fun enjoy stay well

I work in women’s health and we say a good birth ends with a healthy mum and a healthy bub, doesn’t matter how you get there. You’d be surprised at how many births don’t go to plan (it’s not often talked about but it’s very common), so I’m so happy that, one way or another, you and your bub made it safely and healthily through this life transition 🙏💕 congratulations
