Wonderful to see a slurry pit properly cleared out. It always bothers me on other farm channels that they waste such an ongoing portion of their expensive storage capacity by NOT doing a *full* clearing of the solids volume in a slurry pit or tank.

We've got an old slurry store from our dairy days, and this vid just gave me an idea. Its got about 2 rings still in it, mainly dirty water and a thick crust, but, we want a machinery / workshop shed, and I'm thinking what if we tankered the water out, dug out the crust, put a tin roof over it, and removed some of the panels on the side for a door...... That would make a sick shed.

Great video Tom. Love Andrews intro. It could have come out a whole lot differently. Ha ha. I was wondering how you were planning to empty out the sludge. It all worked out really well, great teamwork in your community. Question remains what did you do with all that muck you emptied onto the yard... I am intrigued you mentioned the roof over the silo clamp twice in this video and have hinted in a previous video as well at this one extra storage. What do you plan to store, water from the new shed roof or slurry?. Look forward to finding out. Hope the trip to Ireland is going well and more importantly I hope Joanna is recovering.
