Definition: Farmer=someone who raises crops, and Rancher=someone who raises animals and maybe crops as well, but they key is raising animals. And as a rancher I found myself chuckling as I watched this video as I am quite familiar with the use and purpose of each of those outbuildings. It was fun seeing the city slickers on full display LOL. You have bought a great property and I will be watching eagerly to see how you use it. Good luck!

Then why are dairy farms called Farms and not dairy ranches? Dairy comes from animals not crops.

So you would classify all dairy farmers as ranchers? A ranch used to be big and a farm smaller. Pig farmer with corn may not classify as a rancher either.

Answering the important stuff... The cow pies will take all spring to harden up and then will start to cruble apart over the summer. The round coral panel area was probably for breaking horses on a haulter. Differences: ranch is for livestock and farm is for growing crops 🙂

Yeah, spring should be a little aromatic. I grew up in a dairy county (not a farmer or any livestock- just a country boy) and I have to admit the cow pies in the right dosage are actually a nice memory of spring. There’s a lot more hog and chicken farms where I live now and I think the cow pies are better. Not to be confused with lagoon variety smell 🤢 because that stuff will peel paint.

Looks super cool. I think you might be a little off on the scale of it. If your 22 acres was a perfect square the sides of it would only be 1000 feet long. I love the potential here! Please just be cognizant and respectful of those beautiful farm animals next door. I'd hate to seem them getting too spooked or riled up by razers ripping by right next to them! Maybe you can do the high speed stuff at the back? Regarding the manure? Not long at all. We spread it on our fields every year and the plants just gobble it up, circle of life. Process might be slower out there though since you get less rain than Michigan. I wouldn't worry about it though, if they don't break down immediately they will just dry up into flaky crusts, also cow manure is not even remotely as stinky as human "manure". A whole pasture will smell more pleasant than a single toilet that didn't get flushed.

The house that you did not want to show, obviously good for a variety of reasons, from actual home for those needing a place to sleep to temporary quarters for long nights, etc. Could flood this comment down with ideas, but I think you and your team will be more brilliant than "Clarkson's Farm". With cold winters like that, the cow pies usually take about a year to decompose till they aren't recognizable as a pie. But takes about 2 years till it composts enough to be dirt. I recommend you go around with a pitch fork and throw them in the bed of ur truck, and dump them in the corner of the property.

This is a cool idea and will make standard comparisons much easier to do. I hope you still do some wheeling on the trails of Colorado because I really enjoy seeing the mountain scenery, especially when you guys do summit trails. I like the idea of naming the different obstacles and features after the crewmembers. If you ever have a guest that gets stuck you can name that location after them (Like Top Gear named a corner on their test track "Gambon"). Once you get your trails and obstacles established, you should open it up maybe on the weekends and charge folks to come out and wheel. Maybe hold rallies. One more thing...I don't know about Colorado, but in Texas, 22 acres would hardly be considered to be a "ranch." LOL!

If you pull some sort of drag or chain link fence behind your vehicle it will break the cow pies up and it will degrade within a few weeks and the round pen is for working horses so you have continual motion and not a corner to get stuck in
