Not a single one sings their anthem, except Curry who is just mumbling the words. They didn't even want to play for their country, but for the cameras and fame. Serbian basketball players have above all winner mentality! They believe they can beat anybody no matter what. It doesn't matter if they have big stars in the team or not, and that's why they are always around the top generation after generation. I am Greek but have lived for a long time in Serbia and whenever I watch Serbia play I am confident they can /will win because this mentality transfers to the fans also. Some calls got into Serbian players heads in the end,so they were less focused. It's the truth,I am a basketball fan and I speak the truth. Serbians played with their whole heart there,sometimes it isn't enough due to details. For example,Poland turned around the volley semifinal with 2 injured players during the match,the setter and libero. Their heart and courage worked,for the Serbians here it worked for 3 quarters. In order to beat USA you need to be perfect for 4 quarters. Like when we beat the USA in 2006.

I am French, and after our won battle against Germany, I really wanted to have the opportunity to fight team USA in the finals, but.... I rapidly cheered for Serbia, they were focused, fearless, and I really believed they could make it. What a game they had ! So now I hope France can deliver a monster game, and that Serbia gets bronze, they deserve it. Bogi's face at the end of the game was so desesperate and sad, I wish he can bring one medal home. oh please... as much as I would love to see team USA stumble at the last step, there is zero chance of that happening. France has no offensive firepower, and basically only got to the final because the tactic of "lets pray the germans miss their shots" worked because Germany played really bad for at least 2 of the 4 quarters and woke up too late. This will not happen vs team USA. You saw what can happen when a team plays good defense vs them, and they still scored 95. France did not score that many points in any game this tournament. They had 94 against the weakest opponent in group stage and that was even with overtime. Any other game they typicall scored around 75 points. I will pop a bottle of champagne if they pull it off, but nah man, it is never gonna happen.

I think that I understand basketball a little so I will like that somebody explain me why this game was played under NBA rules - TRAVELLING !!! so many ... fouls (specially on the end) ... and so on. Come on man that so great players need a help from refrees to beat the oponent. Disgrace. You can talk whatever but if this game was on the level as it shoul be the end will be different. @@VincesInHocSigno Why would you think that, LeFlop and Flopbiid made traveling violation almost each time they touched the ball, and it was called once to Flopbiid and gave Serbia technical for pointing travel violation and wouldn't accept any challenge call. Entire world agree that officials leaned heavily to the NBA rules and not FIBA and that was sad to see from such legendary team that US gathered, to be pushed by referees and to claim that they are better then original dream team that didn't even took 1 time out on the way to the gold.

@@strndrp You have touched a couple of good points but I must disagree that refs leaned towards NBA rules, they allowed Serbia to play very aggressively, nearly every defensive play by the Serbs would end up with whistle in the NBA. They let a couple big things slip, they were generally sub standard to this otherwise a great basketball game. Possibly the best in the Olympics I've seen since the gold medal game in Beijing 2008.

It really was that great. Obviously you will have older American fans being disrespectful about this game since it was actually competitive, but I hope Serbian people will not listen to them. Serbia deserves all the credit in the world for that outstanding game. USA played great too, but they feared the Serbian defense until the 4th quarter, outside of Curry. The key sequence was at the 7 minute of the 4th quarter! Jokic missed the open 3 that would take the game to 14points. After that he fouls, and makes his 4th foul, while KD makes the 3 pointer and USA gets another 3 pointer right after that because of the extra position for the foul. It was very unfortunate!!!! Nikola Jokić played 37 minutes and every other attack went through him. The referees allowed him only four free throws. We all saw the beating he took from Embid and Davies the entire game.....He only got to the free throw line four times. A similar situation applies to Bogdanović. Serbia deserved to win. They dominated Team USA throughout technically playing much better basketball than the Americans. USA won it because of unbelievable shooting from Steph Curry and some assistance from officiating. Absolutely disgusting refereeing through the whole tournament, which just culminated at the most important match. Missed calls, favoring NBA stars just because of who they are, destroying Serbias offensive tempo. We absolutely made mistakes, but they were being overpunished by the refs, having every decision go in the way of the team LeUsa. The only person I have respect for is Curry. Played incredible basketball and was also a gentleman through the match, not complaining about every single call that did not go in their favor.

Alot of the calls were not horrible but rather underhanded. Especially messed up was that AND1 that Lebron got I think in the 3rd quarter or early 4th, where he went into his opponent shoulder first, bumped into him, then into a fadeaway with absolutely NO contact from the defender at all and got that ghost call from the refs. Stuff like this frustrates EVERYONE who loves the sport and does not just put on the biased fan glasses. The backcourt violation late in the game which was a foul first was another example of it. American player reaches in, slaps the serbian ballhandler over his arm, who slightly seems a bit off balanced by it, and gets called for a travel. I doubt the refs deliberately were against Serbia, but they had a really terrible performance in moments where the game came down to "every possession counts".

You guys are the only podcast that mentioned that referees played massive role in team USA comeback. It's not like they were making decisions that could go either way, they were literally doing stuff that is ilegal and impossible to call. For example when KD shoots three, and they give 4th foul on Jokic and possession for USA from which they scored another three, and that was 6 points in one possessin that took less then 20 seconds. By the rules, if they called the foul on Jokic, KD's three can't be ruled as legit because shot was made after Joker made foul on AD, so that is direct violation of the rules. Also Curry kicked Avramovic with his elbow, and it was not called offensive foul, but next possession, after KD kicks the ball out of Bogi's hands, when Bogi took the ball back, ref's called over the half, WTF, so those were just some situations, where Serbia got robbed, and it got robber without mercy or concience. The fact that main judge was Bosnian, is like you put Israel referee to judge match of Palestine or Syria, or Russia refereee to Ukranian, it just don't make sense...But also, Serbian guys missed some shots, they fell under pressure and lost it. But refereee were main player for USA, not Curry, not LB, not KD.

USA is the best team in the world period. However, not only in this game but in general in these olympics the referees were simply inadequate. I think in 3 critical moments in this game they made serious mistakes against Serbia. As an American fan, that was the most fun I’ve had watching basketball since my bucks won the championship. Hell of a game. The top 2 teams in the world lived up to the hype this time. The thing about the refs is somewhat valid. The 4th quarter felt more like an nba product in terms of player movement and ball handling. The game swung our way and we capitalized. I feel super proud of our team (Serbia ofc 😂)! I am amazed how the guys handled the entire game! That attitude, that drive! Man, that's how you play against the USA! Emotions I want them to take away from this game aren't those of defeat or sadness, but rather hunger, passion, unity and desire for more!

Epic shame for USA "best" team! With all that players they cant win out of known Unverse level of serbian team, without shameless help from referiees. OI play under FIBA rules. But refereeies allow USA huge amount of advantage out of rules. Ok. They didn't call almost any travelling throughout the whole tournament. It caught my eye since the first games. European coaches are to blame that they didn't raise the voice on time. So many situations, not only for team USA, are just not compliant with the official rules. Yes, they are trying to make game faster, more watchable, closer to American fans, but man, just change the rulebook then on time. However, as a Serbian, I don't think it's travelling to blame now for the loss. We accepted that game by not pointing it out on time. Other than that, refs did make mistakes, but honestly I didn't see tendency there. Jokic's 4th personal just killed us, it gave wings to Embiid. He wouldn't have scored that easily on those possessions. Praise to Curry and James, but they didn't win this alone. Embiid's easy buckets just burned our lead.

This is the real truth. Many people here are emotional about what just happened so they're letting their their bias cloud their view. Germany, Australia and USA have been travelling the most. But it's rarely led to an advantage. The fouls certainly could have been worse

@@lecapjames180 yeah 100% Serbia lost it mostly due to them making bad decisions down the stretch, but while not overtly calling crazy stuff all game long, the refs allowed team USA to get away with alot more stuff. Especially harrassing the ballhandler with way too aggressive reach ins, holding and shoving when hedging high or on single coverage, especially from Jrue Holiday who should have been called for quite a few fouls on buildup play. This disrupted the flow of the Serbian offense drastically, similar to the Germany vs France game where refs did a similar thing. It is hard to bring this up because to show this you would have to rewatch the game with anyone you want to explain this to, so yeah, teams just get away with this at times and it just pays off to hack, and hope the refs swallow their whistle, which they certainly did in both semi finals.
