Sad to know they lost their mothers but here they get a good second chance in life. Thank you for this great video so we can be part of what the VMF is and the great things they do! ❤️

‘Please get over their cuteness it is short lived…’ 😅 This is why we love you, Dave! You have dedicated your life in helping these wonderful creatures and every point you make comes from your heart and decades of experience. It’s hard to look forward and picture them as trouble making yearlings, but after a few years of being a member and watching and loving your channel (and two other channels) I have learned so much. They *are* so incredibly social and noone but their own troop can provide for them the way in which they need to be provided. Thank you for another amazing episode and season. I hope you guys are doing well with funding…. let us know if anything comes up or if you need anything specific at the Foundation. Much love from the States 🙉 ❤

So innocent and helpless. Glad they were turned over to your foundation and didn't become someones pets or worse. Question though, do you think they might be twins? I know it is uncommon for Vervet's to have twins but it isn't rare. So, it is possible that these are twins. Giving the fact they were both born on the same day, both came to that woman with blood all over them makes me think they are twins.

I’m so happy there are programs and places like yours to help these babies on their new journey . And I’m also so so glad you mentioned that little bit at the end about how they grow up and people shouldn’t have them as pets. So often we don’t see the negative part about them , just the cute happy side. It makes my heart happy that you guys will find them a troop and a new mom so they can go back to their natural lives in the world. Please keep doing this ! ❤❤❤

Unless you started where you actually start. Which is training the volunteers. Getting the place ready to bring in new little monkeys and volunteers. Whether it's getting funding so that you can buy supplies. Repairs all the other things that you do there. To prep for the season. And sharing those things. Would actually be the start on the season.

They are both so adorable but I can't help but feel sad for them because even though they're receiving the Best care at VMF, they should be with their Mum's!💔😔😔 Josephine is going to be a handful in a few weeks when she gets a bit bigger as she is already interested in everything around her! I don't think we should discount Abu yet, I think he is conserving his energy and he's going to be a little hellion, LOL. I think they're both a great beginning to Season 6, I 🙏🏼🙏🙏🏾 pray this year is MUCH less hectic than last, and that you won't have as many orphans to care for! That will mean more babies get to be raised by their birth Families!❤️❤️❤️ Thank you as always for sharing the video, Blessings and Hugs from Maine USA!

So , the woman with the two babies she handed over , she was afraid of being turned in for illegally having these guys in her home? Was she being deceptive and ‘covering’ for her husband or..? I ask because she seemed genuinely concerned that she would get in some sort of trouble. Which tells me that the government must take fairly seriously the illegal holding of wildlife there. If *only* the laws were as strict and the penalties as severe in places like Cambodia … I read recently that Cambodia has the largest young population in the world or rather the majority of the citizens there are twenties and under. Setting up the perfect circumstance for hoodlums to financially benefit from the monkey abuse business , right ?

Hi! No, the split screen is just for the livestream on the weekend. I believe it's every Saturday, depending on where you live. For example, I'm American, but I live in Italy and I see the livestream early Saturday morning here, at about 7am. That's either 6,7,8, or 9 hours ahead of the United States and it's behind South Africa and Australia, etc. Anyway, the normal weekly videos don't have the split screen. The videos are really great and very informative. I started watching about three years ago and can't reccomend the videos and the VMF itself highly enough! 🙂

I have a question for both the commenters and anyone from the channel who reads the comments and has time to answer (I know, time is a luxury, but I'll ask anyway). And forgive my verbosity - this is why I don't comment often. To preface I enjoy and appreciate this channel and the Herculean efforts of all involved to rescue and support these stunning animals. I'm of the opinion that our humanity is judged by how we treat all living beings that we share this planet with. I don't have to tell anyone reading this about the stakes here, and how the proliferation of the monkey torture porn channels, as well as the troubling monkey meat trade, on top of the already horrid state of medical testing and encroachment into their native homes is destroying so many of the communities of these and other primates, our closest relatives on this planet. The question has nothing to do with this, my query is actually kind of silly in light of what I just wrote, but I wanted to just make a statement of what the Forest and other sanctuaries are up against, and why they should always be supported. And I have contributed when I can, and will always try to support you. And again,I rarely comment, but I have to get this out. I want to be CRYSTAL CLEAR, this IS NOT any kind of indictment on Dave, the rest of the group, the interns, etc. It's more a pet peeve of my own, as I have sensory issues. So please take this as just one of my own litte foibles, but whenever humans lip-smack, I want to stab my ears with red-hot steak knives. I know, ridiculous. But again, my sensory issues are varied and I never know when I'm going to have one of those "nails on a chalkboard" type of reactions until they happen. And of course, the workers here are doing it for a specific purpose with these animals, NOT like the slugs in places like Ankor Wat or Siem Reap where they are using it as a manipulative tool for their own monetary gains. When those monsters do it, my whole body seizes up - plus EVERY ONE OF THEM sounds like they just gargled mud and it is spraying all over the place as they drool out those smacks. Ok, descriptive, but I could have been much worse with some of the words I chose. I think you get the point. And not one of the workers here has that kind of cadence or liquidity, but I still bristle a bit. So long question longer - am I the ONLY one who has that eccentricity? Or are there others who feel the same? Just curious. And again, absolutely no disrespect intended! Just wonder if even some of the workers have a similar response to it. Thank for all you do!! You are so so appreciated.

Hi, James! No, believe it or not you're definitely not the only one! I've been watching these videos for three years now and have been a financially supporting member of the channel for almost two years now and even after all this time and no matter how much I love the Foundation and the vervets, the lip smacking has the same effect on me. From the comments I've read over the years, there are other people who have the same issue. I think you've explained yourself very well and it's obvious that this has nothing to do with how you feel about the monkeys or the staff, just like my own case has nothing to do with the vervets or the staff. I've always been extremely sensitive to any kind of noise at all, even when I was a kid. In my own case, it's got nothing to do with the volume of the noise, though I do turn the volume off when there's lip smacking, but it's just sound in general. Pretty weird that I'm a mother of three, despite my avatar photo, and my kids made A LOT of noise when they were little!! Haha!! Anyway, I ran across your comment and I wanted to respond because you were so kind about what you said and because I wanted to let you know that there are other people who've said the same thing over the years that I've been watching the VMF videos. This is probably going to sound ridiculous because it's so obvious, but I've ended up just turning the volume completely off until the next scene begins, when that specific noise gets to my sensitive ears. There are some of us who have problems with specific types of sounds and I was reading about this a couple of months ago, but unfortunately I don't remember the name of the ear issue right now. Please don't feel bad about saying what you did!! Sometimes we just need to know whether we're the only people who react to things in a certain way. I totally get it!! Anyway, I hope you can enjoy the videos just the same, by doing what I do with the volume during those scenes. Frankly, you've helped me to know that I'm not alone with this issue either!! I hope you have a great New Year and that you'll continue to enjoy the videos!! Ciao! 🙂

I have a somewhat unrelated question - just watched one of your older videos ft an adorable samango baby. It got me wondering - if you didn't happen to have a samango troop available to adopt the baby, would it be possible for a vervet group to adopt it? How likely is that to be a successful integration? I've seen macaque troops consist of multiple species (pig tail and long tail, for example). In captivity a baboon, macaque, and capuchin infants playing together quite well. And then there are the stories like that of an orphaned puppy being adopted by a momma cat, even allowing the puppy to suckle. How far can interspecies adoption go and how often do you see it? I find it vastly interesting! And heartwarming to see a troop adopt an infant not of their same species. Big thanks to anyone who shares their thoughts :)
@moysiu3452
@moysiu3452 Жыл бұрын
Another pondering of mine - if long-tailed macaques can adopt a pig-tail, would they be willing to adopt a vervet, capuchin, baboon, green etc? Or does it only work because both species are macaques? Would be interesting to see a macaque or vervet family with a baby orphan baboon

@@VervetMonkey thank you for getting back to me so quickly :) I figured as much - that if it were to occur in nature, it would be a very rare case and that it would only be possible with guidance from humans. Great job you guys do, I can't imagine how much dedication is needed with the sheer number of babies that end up in your care

@@VervetMonkey The only footage I've seen of baboons playing well with other species of monkeys has been when they are all very little. I can imagine the story would be very different if the animals had met each other as fully grown adults

i have a question please, if the babies are only a couple of days old, where is the umbilical cord? do they lose it almost at birth?

it seems to break off rather quickly within the first day or two, I have found one still semi attached after 3 days

Well my personal opinion is that while they're small us human will give them the love and care they need and teach them while they are small.then when they are big we could give them to the zoo for they could take care of them and then they would be free. But I think ppl from all over the world should adopt one. They are fast learners.and cute.

Well my personal opinion is that humans are killing the monkey mothers in such huge numbers that there aren't enough Zoo Cages, to hold all of the monkey infants. A sanctuary, such as the Vervet Monkey Foundation, who's goal is to rescue and safely release into a forested sanctuary with other monkeys, is enormously more humane and doable!!! I'd rather see a monkey with an adopted female peaceable living in a forested sanctuary, than Caged in a filthy zoo with hoards of people intruding on their peace every day!!!

Joseph and Josephine would have been better names for them instead of ABU. They are so tiny and hopefully will get past the dehydration stage soon. It's so sad that they are not with their mothers; however, they are lucky to be in the hands if people to help them instead of hurting them. They will also learn from their own kind here as well. Their adorableness of many cute sounds and cute little faces and how they act when learning makes them so much fun to watch. It would also be better to wash them in all natural animal shampoo or oatmeal puppy/dog shampoo to prevent itching and soothe their skin.

As they grow up, how can they live when they get bringing back to the jungle. They know only Humans not monkeys. I watch numbers of video clips showed all the small, very young monkeys got abandoned by their owners. They were all traumatize because they knew humans as they were babies.
