My kids (22 & 27) are not having children because of gun violence, climate change, hate, trump/maga, etc. I won’t ever be a grandma, but I agree with their decision. I couldn’t imagine having kids during this time in our country.

@@entropybentwhistle I get why you're angry about the anti-woman laws-it's infuriating and heartbreaking. I've been hurt badly too, but in my case, it was policies from the other side. It feels like the system as a whole is designed to pit us against each other while both sides do harm. I stepped away from my own bubble (for the most part) and learned the "other side" has some legitimate gripes. They _want_ us furious with one another.

I'm an American who moved to another country over a decade ago to be with my wife. In that time I've had a happy family and career. I watch my home country from afar every day and seen it on nothing but a decline since I left. Where I am now I can send my kids to school without fear of them being the victims of another school shooting. I'm able to own a home and support my family on an income that would be near impossible in US. I'm currently battling cancer with a more than likely chance of survival and I'm able to do so without worrying about bankrupting myself thanks to the country's universal health care system. I didn't leave America out of disdain, but for so long I've looked at it and thought about how happy I am that I left when I did. And I can only hope for the best for the loved ones I have that still live there.

One goal of this administration, I think, is to make us lose faith in democracy. To my understanding, J.D. Vance's chief financier is a Silicon Valley billionaire who thinks people are too stupid for democracy to work. It's hard not to take that idea away from this year's election result. However, I keep in mind that we've never truly practiced democracy in the U.S., given that we never purged our law of all the elitism of our founders. 12-10-2024 - - - - I've been talking-complaining about overpopulation now for over 30-40 years. The world population has doubled about three times in my lifetime alone. DOUBLED.! Everyone likes sex but it doesn't have to result in making more people, which is just stupid. By the way, the problem with too many people isn't real estate - it's trash and pollution first, and demand for resources, particularly UN-renewable ones. Sewage from pig farming contaminates the Atlantic coastline from the Carolinas to Savannah. Red tide is worse every year. Since the 1970s over 90% of the oceans edible fish have been harvested. The great pacific garbage patch north of Hawaii is now 1.6 million square kilometers. When I was in grade school, there was no such garbage patch. I could go on but it just makes me angry. Good luck young people. You're going to need it.
