I have to say David's other documentaries focusing on wild animals' fight, flight and sex, are also misleading, ignoring animals' deeper emotions and intelligence. In fact, animals often spend most of their times just hanging around with other animals, or be alone and zen about their environment. But I guess animals sunning and snuggling up to their mates are not as entertaining as violence and sex.

Hey Ed, long time fan here. Regarding 7:08 I strongly suggest a TED talk called "How a handful of fishing villages sparked a marine conservation revolution | Alasdair Harris". I believe Sir Attenborough's comment makes much more sense after watching that. Lately I've come to agree with that thinking, it's impossible to protect our oceans without doing fishing correctly (rather than just banning it altogether, because it's not realistic in near future). Denying fish from our diet is option for us inland, but these poor coastal areas will not stop fishing as it's their main source of food, and all we can do is support educating the correct way to do so by making areas of conservation, letting fish populations grow, and fishing in moderation once they do so. Hope it makes sense. Tell me if I'm outright wrong, I'd love to see extensive video regarding this topic with marine conservationists, please make it happen!

I see an issue with relying on public to cut fish consumption. Less fish eaten -> fishermen lose jobs -> less fishermen -> more fish in the sea -> remaining fishermen getting better catches -> price goes down as fishermen trawling up more or increase of fishermen -> cheaper fish on shelves -> fish becomes popular again by consumers. I mean its probably not that simple and probably ridden with errors, but will still likely end with the same cycle. Fish population rises, cheaper fish, consumption rises. I fear changing diets based on environment is unsustainable.

The solution to our oceanic problem does not lie in trying to prevent fisherman from fishing. You don’t solve a problem by treating this symptom, you solve a problem by fixing the cause.
