Madam Webb enables multiversal travel and Sony needs a character to facilitate that (ie like MCU'S Dr Strange, America Chavez, etc.)

I’m still not sure about a standalone Madam Web film, but this is likely going to be Sony’s foot in the door to act as a way to guide their audience through the spider-verse that they’re building into. She’ll likely cross over between their live action films and animated projects they’re working on. In addition, this will be pivotal to their steps to replace Peter Parker with Miles Morales. So I’m not 100% on board yet, but I’m open to the idea as long as they do it right.

They could do all of these side characters the way they did "Split" for the "Unbreakable" universe. That was compelling and well executed 4 the tone of their universe. Just make a really good story and get ppl invested. The rest of the work does itself.

Madame web is, at best, a supporting character to spider-man. I don’t care who the actress is but I don’t believe this character deserves a stand alone movie with her as the main focus, she doesn’t work without the different spider characters and she’s only useful as a sage for advice. If any female deserves her own movie, it’s Gwen Stacy.

Even the new D+ series with the exceptions Moonknight/She Hulk/Armor Wars are heading the wrong way. You get more D+ subs giving the fans what they want, not what you feel they need or what makes the most equitable platform.

Because of the Multiversal nature of the character, I wouldn't be surprised if we find out Dakota Johnson filmed some scenes for Multiverse of Madness way before this announcement, especially if they are truly wanting to set up a Web Warriors/Spiderverse story, which it definitely seems like they are.

Wow about Tom Holland's midlife crisis. I hope that if they go with a "Knull invades Earth" storyline like in King in Black, that they have built up characters like the Fantastic 4 and the Sentry. A shot of the sentry ripping apart carnage and then having Knull rip him apart will be quite shocking for audiences

Love this channel. But I try to take your theories with a grain of salt. They sound so grandiose and exciting, but I’d be disappointed if we didn’t get something close to that. Sony seems to have taken notes in their continued partnership with Disney. To see a culmination of the spider verse would be like the turnout of Avengers end game or Spider-Man no way home.

I really do hope this is Julia Carpenter. I like the fact that she was .gov agent and a 30's something single mom. She went by a couple of code names as Spider Woman and Arachne, and is now known as Madame Web, since old Madame Webb transfers her powers to Julia. I would be pissed if tom holland bitched out like that. he's got ten more years in him, but less than five would be a disservice to the fans. Like a slap in the face. i maybe the only one, but i don't totally agree with you rob. like at all. a friend of mine touched on this on facebook yesterday. so what i don't want them to do is make the knull a spiderman issue when spiderman has nothing to do with knull himself per say. the story was about how eddy and venom learned and overcame him in the end. i don't want that kind of movie where it's only focused around spidermen from different realities fighting knull because that's not at all happened in the comics. rob if we take what you said and use it here's what we're missing: silver surfer getting to flex his muscles and show his powers, the overall backstory of knull and the symbiotes, eddie and his son dylan and their involvement, the other heroes being affected by knull, thor fighting knull, and finally venom getting an insane power boost and becoming the new king in black. we would sacrifice all of this, just to make a cash grab for spiderman. i dont not agree.

Rob out here doing the Lord's work by telling people about Julia Carpenter. I grew up watching reruns of the 90's Spidey and didn't think they were gonna try to pull off Dakota Johnson as a senior citizen. That said, I don't think anyone is asking for a Madame Web solo movie. Sony has fumbled one too many times, but there's not much fans seem to be able to do about it, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It legally cannot happen, or at the very least is highly unlikely to happen, at least not for the MCU. Reason being is while Marvel does own the film rights to Hulk, Universal still has the Distribution rights, basically meaning Marvel can put Hulk in anything they want to, but if they want to make a Hulk specific movie (which World War Hulk would be) they legally have to get Universal involved in making it and putting it out there, and Marvel and Disney don't really seem interested in doing that with Universal right now, especially since they're shifting focus to She-Hulk. It's sort of the same thing with what Star Wars had, where while Disney owned Star Wars they at that time didn't own Fox, and Fox had the Distribution rights to Star Wars, so if Disney wanted to rerelease the old Star Wars in any sort of way back then Fox legally had to be involved. To simplify, it's not likely to happen just because it would be too much of a legal headache for Marvel and Disney, and possibly a monetary headache as well. So I'd say ignore that rumor completely, unless an announcement of Universal being involved with it happens.

I hope she can be more a supporting character that can hold her own like a spider but that she is much like the master weaver not that she makes it but she has a connection and can have a cosmic awareness through the web of Life and Destiny eventually leading to a Spiderman that ascends to cosmic Spiderman becoming one with the Web if they don’t introduce the Enigma Force as Knulls polar opposite even if it didn’t help against the Inheritors it is the most effective counter to Knull it would also work so well if the darknesses Arishem spoke about revealing the truth would be knull in the MCU being more like the Chaos King on a multiversal scale trying to absorb everything in the multiverse back to primordial darkness with the living abyss the symbiots.

She’s in the next Spider-Man movie and she’s also going to be the gateway as to how the Sony characters get in and out of the MCU. Sony also wants in on Secret Wars and they’re building up to Knull and he’s is also coming to the MCU.The properties of Hela’s Crown as well as Gorr’s Necrosword will all lead back to him and it will be explained. It was part of the new deal. Don’t gotta believe me just wait and see.

I believe the producers will want to make their own Nick Fury type of character to further the Spider-verse in live action, while also using the opportunity to remaster and simplify the character and her origin. Her chair will likely connect her to the live action Spider-verse and we'll see what they've got in store for Venom and Knul, the villain spin-offs like Morbius and Kraven, and the three known live action Spidermen universes. I bet this film will show us a live action Miles as well as Spider-Gwen played by the actress from the Amazing films.

Casting Dakota Johnsson is like the casting Marissa Tomei as May Parker. Aunt May was portrayed in the comics as an old woman, which works fine for an adult Peter, but Tomei was great as the aunt of a teenager.
