WE PARTIED ON A RUNWAY!

We head back up North for the biggest runway party on the Vanlife calendar!! Well, the ONLY van life runway party I know of actually.
Elvington airfield is the past home to the Top Gear test track and this weekend is hosting the second 'VanLove Fest' - hosting vans of all shapes and sizes and celebrating all things van shaped.
There were car campers to overlanders and everything in between.
This festival is a cross between a music festival, a throw back show and rave with a side dish of vans.
The music is why people choose VanLove festival and Guy and Jo from Coalition known how to book DJls, artists and groups that will get the crowd of all ages on their feet.
This year Rozzalla of 80's and 90's fame was performing live on the Friday night, followed by a DJ set from K-Klass.
Rozalla not only knocked it out of the park with her voice, smashing out the classics from our teen years, but she was SO NICE too! She stayed for ages after her set to have selfies with the crowd.
Saturday was the Hawaiin theme event with a comedy act followed by a steel band, a limbo competition, the conga (standard for any decent night out) and the some tropical tunes.
The silent disco rounded off both the Friday and Saturday night entertainment. Now we didn't think we were silent disco people.
That was until Shauni put her headphones on us - that plus the cider gave us our second wind and we continued to dance the night away. Twice!
All this happened whilst camping and partying on an actual runway!! No need for levelling chocks at this festival!!
The weather was so hot and the showers on Friday night didn't stop any of the fun.
The best bit for us was once again the runway convoy that ends the weekend. In 2022 there were around 200 vans. This year there were closer to 500 vans!
As I had driven the van in the 2022 convoy, I thought I'd better let Riki take a turn this time.
What makes me smile most about this vlog is that we had such a good weekend with such a huge family we have made with Vanlife friends over the last 2 years. We are all from different parts of the UK and from different walks of life, yet Vanlife and the love of laughing, dancing and a cheeky drink has brought us together time and time again. Add in a bit of KZbin and we just seem to click!
There are so many laughs and happy faces in this vlog I hope there's enjoy watching some of the highlights of another great weekend.

How does the silent disco work? Are the headphones bluetoothed to something?

I think it must be a Bluetooth connection yes. There were two channels to choose from and you could switch your own headphones between channels. The 2 DJs we’re playing different styles of music. One dance music and the other pop. You can see some of the headphones have a red light and some blue. The colour represents which channel you are listening to. The quality of sound was very good and it made you want to dance 😄
