Two things. First you should know that hertz is a really bad company to deal with. Second buying vehicles unseen, well this is an expensive learning lesson. Not a lot of sympathy here.

No condition report?? Perhaps these were AS IS sales? I think some of this story is not being told.

It's all hail damage. Fix the glass and headlights. Don't bother wasting money on fixing dents, unless Hertz pays for it. It's just cosmetic. Renting cars out, they will eventually get damaged again any way.
@wieslawpoplawski34273 ай бұрын
They are renting to Uber drivers, major cosmetic damage will get them banned from Uber as soon the first passenger reports it. Uber will demand proof of repair and pictures from the driver and will "black list" the plate/Vin if they don't get it, so even different driver won't be able to put them to use on Uber. BTW, Hertz is getting out of the Uber EV weekly lease, yet those guys think they can make money on it. Not only Uber passengers will do lots of damage getting in and out with backpacks scratching the doors, paint, seats with zippers, and sometimes keys hanging on the backpack itself. But also, the drivers will kill the batteries by charging to 100% every single time followed by frequent discharge to 2-3%. I know someone who has private rental like this with a fleet of teslas (not for Uber) but customers still don't care and supercharge to 100%, he says that on average his batteries die around 130 to 140K miles. He gets refurbished packs for 15K while new is over 20K.

okay, so you bought 9 used rental cars and expected 9 brand new cars? geez. On top of that, hertz waits forever to sell their rental cars so these things probably all have 50-70k miles on them.. and you expected them to be in mint condition. That's on you, bro.

If you’re renting them out to Uber drivers anyway why do most of those dents matter? Most Ubers here have damage and poorly repaired

Lots of others have scooped good deals from Hertz but it is no different than buying any used vehicle. You look at it/drive it yourself and if you like it then take it to a qualified shop for an inspection.

@@ralphpetry1745 Fair enough... but you're talking about buying individual cars. Max went into negotiating a super deal! He bought 9 freakin cars! Then Hertz delivered garbage and then refused to make him whole! I'm a Turo host with 31 cars (actually met Max at last year's PH Summit). I buy cars in multiples as well... as many as 4 at one time. I'm the kind of guy who would do what Max did and broker a big boy deal like he did... The last thing I'd want to do is to spend 1/4 million dollars only to be told that I have to spend $20k - $50k more just because the product was defective!

All the damage on this cars is due to severe hail storms. Body dents, broken glass and windshields are typical damages. When this happens, is very expensive to fix a car, even is a Tesla or any other brand. This is the reason Hertz get rid of them at any price, and you got screwed buying them without before inspecting them on site. Learnt lesson for your next time purchase.
@bradi85483 ай бұрын
100% hail, and most insurance companies would total them out with branded titles. If Hertz actually sold these as clean title, no damage vehicles, it sounds like lawsuit territory to me.
@sl0wbutfun3 ай бұрын
why would you buy 9 cars without any damage reports? that didn’t raise any red flags? I love that you are getting no sympathy in the comments. You made a stupid choice, are paying the price for that choice, and now are exposing yourself on the internet 😂

You can't they bought them likely as is with no condition reports. Buyer beware, hertz has been offloading their tesla for 18 months now likely the only thing they have left is cosmetic damage (hail in this case) where the repairs for sale out weigh the profit from the sale. They probably got these for like 12-15k each or less.
