I know this is old but it's new to me. Near the end when you show the hole where the tree used to be, I thought, that's no big deal. I kinda expected more. Then I saw the man off to the left and realized just how big that hole was. WOW. I'm impressed. Thanks for sharing

Surprised he didn't try and cut it down. On my first property I had a dead one that was dropping branches and I think I cut it down. I can remember cutting another dead monster down. Had to come from both sides coz it was so wide.

Can be quite dangerous cutting down dead trees, especially when they are hollow. Explosives provide a quick and safe solution.

Knowing the way that these things go, probably 2 cows fell into the hole, another one tripped over the fallen tree, 2 guys damaged their backs while trying to remove pieces of the tree, ... (So, even after it had been blown up, it continued to be a nuisance.) Nevertheless, the teenage boy in me did enjoy seeing the tree go "Boom !"

Right now there are 3 fallen trees that are blocking a trail and so they must be cut into pieces and removed. (Some explosives would be handy, but I must content myself with an unreliable chainsaw.)

If I were you I’d be applying to federal local agencies. Not sure how it works in Australia but in the states that’s where a lot of people get into forestry. Just google “forestry technician” and you’ll probably find something. Also if you don’t have any experience already you’ll need to get into a training program of some kind. You can’t get into this kind of work without experience, and you can’t get experience from just anywhere. Hope that helps.

Hi Dave, no, just a demo on cone packs and Nonex for a possible client. Some large jobs looming on the horizon, but time will tell. Old problem of "I got my own excavator with hammer and will see first how far we get" is in the orden of the day. hehehehehehehe. And busy doing research in all the different manufacturers that do drill attachments for excavators. I in person believe the future lays in them and not the standard drill rig. See one Australian company manufacture quite a impressive range. The early bird catch the best worms, so one need to gear up before the industry start to wake up.

Did something similar when i was in the Army (US). We took 3 Bangalore torpedos (60lbs of TNT), 3 Homemade bangalores (12 lbs of C4 each), another 12 lbs as a kicmer charge and about 40 wraps of det cord.

We blast up a stump with 7 Sticks a 300 Gramm Eurodyn 2000. A half stump flys so high in the sky, can't watch them no more. It never seem this anymore. Cames down in China ? The other half stump needs a new charge. We use 500 Gramm C4 and blast the other half stump away. Nice day in forest. And a big hole.

All that crazy stuff i have filmed from my first years of fireworks and explosions are lost. This is really bad, that guy with i blast the stump away, is dead. A sugarshock breaks him down at home. I must see sometime, the old computer can fix a profi and i can save the old Videos from this time.
