From a race/speedrun perspective, I'd imagine the most important items are the Cape, Big Key, and Moon Pearl

Big Key and moon pearl for sure, I lean good sword and lots of arrows over cape as avoiding enemies isn't that bad, but you do need to kill some for keys on occasion (which i guess doesnt matter with big key so maybe cape again lol)

First boss can be beaten quickly with 3 bombs. Hold one when that start. Just before thay start moving to the center throw 3 bombs. You'll be left with the last knight

i also finished the boss just today for the first time. problem is a am an explorer not a speedrunner so i have a time just before 3 hours xD. but i got spoiled at my run. i had everything. its all about the hearts.

I currently don't have a controller so have to play keyboard only, AND my reflexes and coordination aren't what they used to be so I have yet to beat Armos. Gratz on beating Aghanim!
