She nailed it at the end. The song represents the growth of children into adults. All kids are freaks in their own way but as you grow up you learn to suppress it and develop into whoever you become. This beat is theirs. This song was played massively on the radio, so I'm sure you've heard it before somewhere. KoRn are definitely very unique. Their guitars have an extra string on them to give a heavier bass sound. That noise he was making was a mixture of beat boxing and scat.
@BM-hb2mr3 жыл бұрын

Korn popularized this beat. However, its been played a million times. Especially if you're referring to the "beat" as the drums. With the bass added there is an argument for that I guess, but traditionally speaking a beat is the drums, and that has been played a bunch. especially jazz. speed that up a bunch and it has jazzy tendencies. That said, this is one of my favorite implementations of that beat! It fits the song well, and he nails the little double stroke rolls most the song. Great tune! just wanted to clear up the whole "beat" thing. Definitely been played before🙂.

Yep it's usually the stuff that society tries to cover up and ignore. It's also why a lot of it doesn't get played on radios and stuff because people just feel uncomfortable hearing the honesty in the songs. They'd rather some catchy poppy song that has no meaning so people will focus on that stuff rather than the issues at hand. Like even "This is America" by childing Gambino speaks on this too.

I saw Korn in 1995 at a tiny club in Berkeley - at that time, there was nothing that sounded even remotely similar to them. It was very cool to see a band that was so different. The whole band was exploring new territory. The vocal style is instantly recognizable. They were at the forefront of popularizing drop-tuned, 7-string guitars. The bass is drop-tuned as well, which makes the strings clack against the neck, which is a major part of their sound. Also their drummer using an 808 in rock/metal definitely turned some heads.

In 1995 or 6, when Korn was new, I won two free tickets from a Louisville rock station and called my metal buddy to head to the show. It was a place called, "The Brewery," and we'd seen many heavy acts there, including Marylin Manson, Godsmack, Gwar, Lords of Acid, KMFDM, among others. That night, we walked in the door ready to let the primal out in a good mosh pit and was met with the sight of a room full of 14 year old kids. I was stunned. Of course, we couldn't do anything, so we stood at the back of the room and simply watched/listened. They rocked out, but standing there, I knew something had changed. If this music was being embraced by an age that I had nothing in common with, and I was about 28, it made me question myself: maybe it's just time for me to grow up. That was the last show for this kind of music I ever went to, and I didn't go to any rock shows for years after that.

What I get from this song is how all of us have at one time felt like a freak on a leash. It's that feeling of painful awkwardness that comes from being exposed to public scrutiny, and judged by others for simply being different. This song, like Numb by Linkin Park is an acknowledgement of that time where no matter what we do, we can never measure up. To put this out there, to express that yes, others too have felt the loneliness and isolation that comes from being terminally unique is something that we can all bond over.

Y'all have to react to the queen of the damned soundtrack. It's amazing and Jonathan Davis the lead singer of Korn helped make majority of the songs that is performed throughout the movie like, forsaken, redeemer, not meant to be and so many more and I think y'all love it cause he also made those songs with Chester Bennington of Linkin park (R.I.P.), David Draiman of disturbed and Marilyn Manson and many more.

I'm not gonna lie. I've listened to this song probably thousands of times since it came out. I always thought the line was "You and I weren't meant to be a cheap f- for me to lay." meaning that he thought they were more, but it turned out they weren't. I learned just now that it's the opposite. "You and I were meant to be a cheap f- for me to lay" which I now assume means he caught feelings. The following refrain of "Something takes a part of me", leads me to believe the feeling is not mutual. Wow. Amazing how you can hear a song for 22 years and still pick up new things from it.

I bet I know where you heard it from. The movie queen of the damned. When he was challenging the vampires while he was up on the stage.

This girl's always enthousiastic and really shows when she's into a tune. Dude's just being a static dude but he had some really bad pause-moments in this one. Aggrevating as hell haha!

Saw them in the early 2000's. I was like 18/19. Best concert ever. It was them, system of a down, kid rock, metallica, and I believe one more band. Best concert ever!

Since Lex likes his odd voice, yall should listen to Smashing Pumpkins either "zero" or "tonight tonight".

Looooved this album growing up. And Lex's excitement when the singer does his tribalistic Korn thing was hilarious! Thanks for the memories, it's been a while!

I think it’s funny that no one ever comments on the fact that the lead singer Jonathan Davis is wearing a kilt. I always thought he was cool for doing that

Oh my goodness. I love Lex!!! I love that she is accepting and so down with the uniqueness of Korn. Especially Jonathan Davis when he basically starts singing in tounges. It's actually so clever that she compared it to bacteria beat boxing. I think Jonathan Davis would love that. Brad your great too!!!
