Incidentally, I know Colbert is joking, but. I actually wrote an entire paper as a graduate thesis on ways that we could teach the fundamentals of taxation and civic spending to children in the K-12 levels of education. And I MEAN "K," because I found at least one syllabus that was explaining it using learn-through-play activities designed for kindergartners, who were shown to have developed a real understanding that stuck with them a few years on. Even former justice Sandra Day O'Connor has written taxation and civics syllabi for the elementary school years, and there are tons of basic tax education courses designed to dovetail into existing high school level math classes. We COULD be teaching kids tax basics. We just don't.
@oodjee5 жыл бұрын
@DAN SOLO Sorry, but you comment is nonsensical and actually backwards. Stupid little agenda? Teaching kids financial literacy, required to understand a fundamental aspect of society is one's stupid agenda? The government is in control of people when they are financially illiterate. Maybe we shouldn't teach them anything, then. Let kids be kids. Let them play Xbox until they're 18 years old, then kick them out of the house.

@DAN SOLO Okay, so... No matter how much you like the president and think nobody should ever criticize him because he has a particular job... There is still going to come a time, no more than five years from now, when he is not president, because term limits. Someday, kids are going to grow up and be voters. They are going to need to help choose future presidents. And legislators. And policies. Anything that helps them understand what government is FOR, and what taxation is for, and how it works, will help them choose candidates who will make the system work the way they want it to. And the only way you can really guarantee that everybody in our society learns something is to teach it in the mandatory levels of school. Because if you don't, then ultimately, some people will know nothing about it when the time comes. Some students in school today are going to be eligible to vote for the first time in November. Or will be by next November. Or November a few years from now And when they do, I want them to understand the systems our country uses to function. One of those systems is taxation. Kids don't stay kids forever. Someday, these kids will grow up and start voting. Even if you think that the current president is the best president ever, someday, people will not have the option to continue voting for him. They're going to have to make decisions on whom to support. Is any of this getting through to you?

Actually, the president and many public officials ARE above the law to a certain degree. You see, impeachment is not being ousted from office, it's when a committee decrees that the allegations against an official warrant the the official actually going to trial. So in truth, impeachment is just the first step in getting him out of office. Clinton was impeached, but found not guilty of perjury so he wasn't kicked out. Nixon was impeached, but he resigned before going to trial.

For a man who slammed Obama for reading from a teleprompter, and claims to ‘have all the good words’🙄, Trump is almost incoherent whenever he tries to ad lib. Babbles.
