That was a real shake down. No squeaks in those high winds and poiunding waves certainly speaks to Sea Winds strengh and quality of build. You and Terysa can rest assured you will enjoy and be safe in your 1370.

How cool is it that you get to experience the 1370 in heavy seas with a professional crew. I know you would never intentionally seek those conditions but it has to feel good knowing exactly how she handles. On all of the onboard footage I found myself wanting a much wider angle shot but great content none the less.

This Thursday, I'll be at the factory with another 1370 owner. Hope to say hello. KZbin has this feeling of day dreaming... but sometimes you can go there... meet the people... step into it... step on board.... Then quickly off to Nha Trang where dream becomes reality. My immediate reality today is 70kg of luggage, mostly boat gear.... Cheers

Obviously the jib needs more leach tension - raising the sheet block to the top hole of the clew adjustments and maybe a short strop at the tack. I would love to know your and the Team's observations from the shakedown and are you/they going to make any changes for RR2 based on what you found?

My wife has battled severe motion sickness her entire life. Over the last two years she has been doing acupuncture, mostly because our scuba diving has been off of boats lately and not shore. It has worked so well for her, that this past week we did an offshore cruising class (catamaran) and she felt great and absolutely loved sailing. This is a woman for whom no other remedy was working. Dramamine 0:03 only worked because she was essentially knocked out from it and could not safely dive or sail. Now, we are looking into purchasing a catamaran!

Amazing. Well now, you and I both suffer motion sickness. Me it is in car, plane, boat, makes no difference.I use travel bands which work miracles for me. Elasticated wrist band with a stud to stimulate a pressure point. Made my love for scuba diving an absolute pleasure (though, to dump a meal at 30 meters depth is great as the fish go crazy!!). Just saying. Looks like you made a good choice of yacht.

I imagine the rest of the crew have frequently been out test sailing and doing delivery of the various models coming out of that factory and that's how they keep their sealegs. Nick, I'm surprised you hadn't managed to keep up on your sailing while in Viet Nam. Even doing some fun day sails on the river might have helped keep you from getting rusty or seasick. Now is the time to correct that so you're ready when RR2 hits the water, the deadline of which is fast approaching.

Exciting to see the beautiful 1370 on the water for the first time. I'm curious about the line boxes behind the winches. From the brief view in the video, they didn't appear deep enough. The crew seemed to be bypassing the box. Does that leave lines all over the sugar scoops?
@SoundzAlive1

H i Nick, Contrary to your seasick recovery I have found that if you keep the cool wind in your face, look forward at the horizon and helm the boat it takes your mind off the motion sickness and you are good to go quickly. I suffer from seasickness and have a cat so I speak from experience. What will make you seasick is looking down or out the stern, and going into hulls in rough conditions. Problem occurs when you need to use the head, so I keep looking up until I sit down then close my eyes. I noticed your flexible solar panels and wondered what brand they are? I bought some that output 10% of rating. André in Sydney

Hi Nick, we are thinking of ordering a 1370. One particular thing that impressed us is your finding that they are squeak free and solid sounding. This would be a great characteristic, especially considering the horrid noises made by Lagoon and other production builders. Is there any chance you could post video from the inside the hulls while you were bashing into those seas? Would love to take a listen to that if you have the video.

In most countries it's possible to buy an over the counter anti-histamine, promethazine, often branded Phenergan. It's very effective at mitigating seasickness. The side effects are dry mouth and drowsiness, so drink water and take caffeine pills or coffee. After 200,000 miles of yacht deliveries and seasickness this is my preferred product. It's cheap and freely available in most places. I use the lowest dose I can find, usually 10mg every 6-8 hrs for a 100kg male.

Not the weak link, Nick. Anyone can lose their sea legs after a year and a half off the water, and that looked like some miserable conditions. I'm sure things will be better with RR2 bc you and Ms. T won't be doing a crazy first out... unless you decide to get crazy. In which case, invest in buckets and some better motion sickness tabs.
