It would make no sense for lucy gray to appear in panem again when snow is president. She would be captured and executed the second that Snow would realize she is back.

Another bold prediction I’m putting out there is that Maggs plays a huge role in Haymitch’s games. The endearing way that he spoke about her as being a really great lady is not lost on me, and there seems to be a unique feeling there. Perhaps she has to act as a surrogate mentor for district 12 because 12 technically doesn’t have a winner. The special addition to the quarter quell will be that previous winners must act as mentors.

idk i felt like the last movie dropped the ball on the philosophical moments in the book, so i hope the next one is able to actually stay focused on the themes of hume and (it sounds like) social constructionism. for me, the arenas, the games, and even a lot of the characters are just set dressing. what’s really gripping abt these stories is how relevant they are to our lives in the 21st century, and how they’re able to build on ideas from centuries past, in a setting centuries in the future, while still feeling like it all applies to today. i felt like the movie adaptations of catching fire-mockingjay 2 had that, but ballad of songbirds and snakes got lost in the set dressing.

He is currently playing Aegon the 2nd in HBO's House of the Dragon and does a FANTASTIC job playing a drunk, emotionally disturbed kid with a dark sense of humor. He looks like him, and the role has been mentioned to him in an interview. I have a feeling we’re going to see it not from Haymitch’s perspective & not from Snow’s perspective. I feel like the most interesting tie would be from Katniss’ mom’s perspective or the D12 escort since Haymitch would have not necessarily had a mentor due to Lucy Gray not being around… but also they would have had to have someone who could have potentially helped them but what that would have looked like being a Capitol citizen helping someone from the poorest district. That kind of fits the brief of what Suzanne was getting at.

I could imagine that what’s going on right now in Gaza could be part of the reason as to why she’s writing the book. The original trilogy was heavily inspired and influenced by her fathers experiences in Vietnam and of her experience growing up as a „military brat“. I remember that part of the events happening in mockingjay derive from multiple war zones - I wouldn’t be surprised if she’d incorporate tactics of the ongoing propaganda and mirror it

Honestly, as a huge fan of THG (it is my absolute favourite book series and it means the world to me to an extent that not many things do) I am very lukewarm about this book. My unpopular opinion is that I think these books, if they continue to be published, will lessen the quality of the series. I liked that a lot of things were shrouded in mystery and that allowed space for fans to create their own headcanons and so many amazing fanfictions were born out of that. I think with a series like this that has stewed in people's minds for a decade, having new information is overwhelming. I will always prefer my headcanons elaborated over many years to what we are given 15 years later. I have not seen many people with this opinion so if anyone feels the same let me know. I am not a Ballad hater, in fact I think it was a great exploration of the themes promised when the book was announced. Its flaws reside not in the fact that Snow was the main character (I supported that when so many were outraged because they demanded Haymitch or Finnick), but in the amount of fan service that was in the story. Trying to explain and connect everything (i.e The Hanging Tree, Mockingjays, Tigris and Snow being related...) to what we already know makes the world feel incredibly small. I still think it was not needed and adds nothing to the original series. Nothing can convince me that these are not being written to be turned into movies. Now since this book is coming out and there is nothing I can do about it, I will probably still read it because I am giving SC the benefit of the doubt and I am sure she will weave in the philosophycal themes in an interesting way. What I hope is explored is the aftermath of the Games and the life of a victor which we did not get to see we K & P. Also how the Capitol uses propaganda to brainwash specifically children into watching the Games. I believe this would be the "Golden Age" of the Games because the majority of people watching would have grown up with them and it would be normalized. I hope we have multiple povs, maybe one from a Gamemaker. What I absolutely do not want is a strong focus on the Games themselves. We already know what happened, and I don't want to see them be sensationalized in a movie again because that defeats the purpose of this series. What I think would be cool but probably will not happen is if, since it's called Sunrise on the Reaping (I actually love that title) and it opens on the 2nd QQ reaping, it also ends in a flash forward on the morning of the 74th reaping, since it changed everything for Haymitch also. If she tries to come out with a ✨️connecting✨️ revelation that Haymitch is actually Katniss' uncle or that Maysilee Donner wrote Deep In The Meadow I will throw the book across the room.

I think the book and the movie will not go too far from the year of the 50th hunger games I think sometimes it is good to let the fans fill in the gaps with their own imagination. It makes the fans part of the story. As far as casting for the movie goes, I have cousins who work in the film industry. I don’t know too much but I do know that with the movie being released in late 2026, they would have already casted and possibly started filming. Massive NDAs would have been signed by everyone on the project and we won’t get those details until marketing starts.

I would love to get some of katniss’ parents but even more than that, I would love if this story shed some light on Plutarch and some first interactions with haymitch. My ultimate dream would be one more book after this one about Plutarch’s story and how he joined the rebels and ultimately recruited haymitch. @@thatpeskyrat both agree and beg to disagree. Not all characters. Just the games themselves as a fan you would want to know what happens to all the games. It cant continue forever but to know more about specific people and their games would be great. Lets say the list i mentioned then. In a few of the movies they could aummarize the winners of games such as 1 to 9 as they were all the same basically. But for the others expanding the lore would be good for the fans and writers. At least in my opinion 😀

My theory that I will protect with my life is that the perspective of the new novel will be of a career, who is spoon fed propaganda and the illusion of false hope and real vs not real with the honour of winning just for Haymitch to win in a way that breaks the rules and makes the career realise (similar to Cato) that everything was a lie.
