I was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe and I miss it terribly. Been living down in SoCal for about 12 years and I realize how much I took it for granted every time I return. I hear it’s become so difficult to make a living there and the housing market is absolutely insane. Lots of friends ended up moving to Gville because it was more affordable. Best of luck to you both!

Congrats on you new life! Thats super sweet that you're still within driving distance of Tahoe. I grew up in L.A. and thought life was good there. Its funny how when you're in the middle of chaos it doesn't seem chaotic. I lived and worked in Hollywood all through the 90s. Then in 2001 I woke up (literally!!) one day and realized I wasn't really as happy as I thought I was. I was tired of the rat race and fake people. Hollywood just didn't have the glitz and glamour anymore. If people only knew how stressful that life really is they wouldn't want anything to do with it. In 2001 I moved to a small town in northern GA and went to work building my new life. My family had already been here for awhile and kept telling me how serene and peaceful it is. And the Smoky Mountains are SICK!! So I made the move. Two weeks after landing here 9/11 happened. I was so grateful to be near family. Even total strangers here will treat you like family. The whole "southern hospitality" stereotype is true for sure. Now I have a great life, great career and love the Frontier Adventure lifestyle. Every year there is something called The Rod Run in Pidgeon Forge Tennessee (Dolly Parton's hometown). The Rod Run is a week long car show where people from all over the country bring their hot rods (and trucks) and show off for each other. The locals line the main street called Parkway and watch the rubber burning fun. Its probably the only place you'll see a jacked up 4x4 with girls in bikinis playing volleyball in the bed! If yall ever venture out this way definitely check out the Smoky Mountains along the GA/TN line. So much good fun to be had. Just beware of all the black ice in the winter.

Awwe this made me sad🥲 My husband and I lived in Lakewood, WA for the last 4 years and just moved to Sacramento, CA to be closer to family and I am missing the trees sooooo much😫 at least were not too far from Tahoe and other places with trees. In Washington it wasnt even a drive away, we just lived in it so I'm sad. Lol

Hello, just happened to stumble upon your channel. Congratulations on buying a house, it is the smartest thing you both could do! You no longer are just throwing your money away! I live in Sacramento and travel through Gardner NV on my way to the Eastern High Sierras and really have gotten to like the small town - it is a perfect "affordable" place to live within a short drive to Tahoe and other destinations. Again, congratulations on your new home!

My wife and I bought our 1st (and current) house 2 years ago and we're still landscaping and renovating bit by bit. But it's rewarding. Congratulations again! I'll be sharing this vid for some positive encouragement for my wife. She just started riding motorcycles and is terrified after a scary moment or two. I always imagined you both were pro boarder and MTB'ers forever, so it was cool to see that you were once mere humans like us. Thanks for the reality check. Love from Australia!

Awesome and congrats! There is some much for the Carson Valley to offer in the ways of adventure. Taking stuff further North or East you will find all kinds of day trip type stuff. Something that is easy and fun, and may be just what the dr. ordered to get the quick day trip in is a trip to the Lagomarsino Petroglyphs outside of Reno. Quick little trip through Reno/VC and out into the wilds then back to VC to grab some grub after a short day of wheeling in your truck! If you guys haven't mtb'd in Carson yet, then definitely hit up our trails. Ash Canyon is still pretty snow covered but Centennial offers something different and fun, albeit windy on some days. So now starts the new adventure!!

Gadnerville, NV is quickly becoming one of the hot spots to buy a house. I have family that did the exact same thing as you guys. They lived in South Lake Tahoe and just moved to Gardnerville, NV too. Beautiful spot and still close to Tahoe. Best thing is you don't live in CA anymore.
