All available known appearances from The Don on Jay Leno's show chronologically throughout the years. Some performances are unavailable or abridged (listed below). Apologies for sound/audio quality - all of these are existing videos on KZbin uploaded by others - a big thank you to those uploaders.
I began the video with what I believe to be most (if not all) of the times Rickles made jokes about or referencing Leno and his Tonight Show hosting status during the final years of his Carson appearances, and Carson's eventual retirement. There are about 3.5 minutes of that and then the Leno appearances begin proper at 3:33, beginning with Don's first Jay Leno Tonight Show appearance on August 2nd, 1994. There is also a singular clip of Rickles on Conan from 2008 discussing Jay Leno also inserted into the chronological order. This adds context to the relationship between the two entertainers.
Personal disclaimer - I think Rickles was obviously at his best on Letterman/Carson/Ferguson/Conan or literally anyone else, Leno is borderline insufferable at times and to the very end (but especially in the 1990s) was often just trying to pettily one-up Don rather than let him shine or do his craft. I think this has a lot to do with both Leno being unfunny and wanting to "prove" his worth to a longtime Tonight Show guest, plus the insecurity that it should have been Letterman's show. But Rickles lovers will have lots of treats inside, just like his relationship with Letterman over the years evolves, so does his with Leno. Additionally, there are a lot of good jokes made at Leno's expense, so if you don't like him, then you have a lot to look forward to.
Anyways, here are 12 out of the 16 known Rickles appearances. If more come forward, then I can always re-upload later.
Rickles' Appearances on Carson Talking About Leno:
0:00 - 10/14/1987, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson
0:38 - 1/12/1989, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson
1:38 - 5/31/1991, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson
2:26 - 3/5/1992, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson (Rickles' final appearance on Carson)
Rickles' Appearances on Leno:
3:33 - August 2nd, 1994 - 1st appearance
17:51 - August 2nd, 1994 - Rickles sits next to Roger Daltrey (The Who)
19:51 - August 2nd, 1994 - Participates in bullwhipping exhibition post-interviews
[2/10/1995 (2nd) appearance is unavailable online]
24:22 - May 22nd, 1995 - (3rd) Sits next to Courtney Thorne-Smith (first part of appearance unavailable)
30:24 - August 29th, 1995 (4th)
[12/13/1995 (5th) appearance with Meat Loaf and Rot unavailable online (picture here: www.gettyimage...)]
[2/14/1996 (6th) appearance with Martin Scorsese unavailable online (picture here: www.gettyimage...)]
41:17 - April 18th, 1996 (7th, contains segment with Roberto Benigni)
56:37 - October 22nd, 1996 (8th)
[5/20/1997 (9th) appearance unavailable online]
1:06:34 - December 16th, 1997 (10th) [segment with Ian Jackson unavailable, picture here: www.gettyimage...]
1:16:09 - May 11th, 1998 (11th)
1:24:39 - October 7th, 1998 (12th)
1:34:49 - November 26, 2002 (13th) [incomplete footage, cuts in partway through]
1:42:33 - January 24th, 2005 (14th) with Bob Newhart; tribute to Johnny Carson who died the day before. [Very abridged version due to heavy copyright restrictions]
Don Rickles on Late Night with Conan O'Brien
1:43:42 - November 12th, 2008 (short segment)
Back on Leno's show:
1:44:23 - July 19th, 2010 (15th)
1:55:14 - July 19th, 2010 - Sits next to Dwayne Wade (NBA player) [trimmed segment]
1:56:22 - July 14th, 2011 (16th and final known appearance) [segment with Bristol Palin unavailable]
Notes:
2/10/95, 12/13/95, 2/14/96, and 5/20/97 appearances are completely unavailable online.
His 5/22/95 appearance is unavailable except for sitting next to Courtney Thorne-Smith.
His 11/26/02 appearance is only partially available (the tape cuts out his introduction and likely at least a couple minutes of the interview). After his interview, Rickles sits next to Eddie Izzard but I did not include it, it's not interesting & has almost no Rickles contributions.
Rickles' 1/24/05 appearance with Bob Newhart exists in full on YT in parts, uploaded by Gregory Papadoupolous. Heavy copyright exists for that specific episode for some reason, but it's out there and worth seeking in bits and chunks for the die-hard Rickles fans.
His appearance on 7/14/11 had him sitting next to Bristol Palin and allegedly making a couple jokes at her and her mother's expense (recap found here: www.vulture.co.... Unfortunately, that portion is unavailable online.

If anyone has the 2/10/95, 12/13/95, 2/14/96, and 5/20/97 appearances available, please upload them! Prime Don, likely shredding Leno to death! And the 1996 one is with Scorsese to promote Casino! There is TV Gold just sitting out there!

Begnini was downright weird. His comedy repertoire consisted of leaping on people and hugging them. Strange. Watch Don closely. His smiles for awhile were forced and when he thought the camera was panned away he was very sober. I don't think the hobbling after the first interaction was fake. Pretty sure the loon hurt him. Leaping on a man Don's age is just stupid no matter how good of shape he appears to be in.

There are two 2007 appearances. The first one I did found online some time ago, meshed together with a 2005 (not the one with Newhart). In this 2007 interview, Don mentions his upcoming book, Rickles' Book, and Jay asks him to return once the book is released. And he did return, circa June, to talk about the book. From this interview, I found only pics.

Jay was never good with Rickles as Letterman was because he is so insecure and sensitive. Letterman was very confident and didn’t mind being the butt of the joke which allowed Rickles to really shine, unlike Jay. I really don’t know how Jay got the Tonight Show over Letterman.

After seeing a bunch of Rickles appearances on Carson, especially in his earlier days, he would be all around the stage, and so the "boom man" (Rickles would often make jokes about them and it became a running joke) wouldn't take a lot of liberties and basically just be real close to Don the whole time since they knew he would be unpredictable once he got out there. Basically, they had no idea what he was gonna do so they had a special mic arrangement just for him, ready to move around, go to the desk, etc. Lol

Regarding Rickles appearance from 8/2/1994 with Leno, I was at the taping and very much appreciate seeing it again. The first and only time I ever saw Don Rickles and Jay Leno live. Talking to my friend who was with me, I didnt remember Daltrey as a guest or the bullwhipper segment except when Leno called Rickles "Boy" and tossed his jacket to him and he then threw it on the floor. Regarding Jay and Don... I always got very strong vibes that Jay was distinctly *not* a Rickles fan. In their interactions as talk show host and guest, Jay never seems satisfied with taking a back seat to Rickles and playing the good natured role of punching bag host... unlike Carson, Letterman, Kimmel, King, Regis, and pretty much everyone else who interviews Rickles and understands the assignment. Jay, more than any other host, seems to view the exchanges as an actual competition, a battle of wits to see which dog will come out on top. Which is never really an effective way to interview Rickles. It's also not how Rickles sees things either. He has no problem being the butt of a joke (if it's a good one) and generally is interested in just having fun and good laughs. Yes, his style of humor relies heavily on making fun of people, but it's just a ribbing. I believe there may also be an animosity there. Perhaps it stems from some of the cracks Rickles made as seen at the beginning of this video. Or perhaps it may stem from the fact that Rickles is obviously a Carson/Letterman guy (as evidenced not only by his much more numerous appearances on their shows, but also as hinted at in Rickles's answers to questions about best talk show hosts. He always raves about Johnny, and then also raves about Letterman, and then will say something like, "and Jay's a different kind of guy," or, "and Jay is very talented too," etc. Definitely not bashing Jay, but certainly not effusive about him). Nevertheless, Jay seems to actively choose to not pay Don very much respect. One could argue that I'm reading too much into their talk show exchanges, but there are two other instances I can recall that would also serve to support my claim. 1. Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project, features a wealth of celebrity talking heads singing Don's praises. Jay musters some very light Hollywood praise on Don that reeks of insincerity and then cracks that he finds it ridiculous whenever he hears that Rickles just played whatever Casino or club that Jay is at. Because, "he's 80!" It seemed odd to view Don's prolificness as something to be mocked rather than appreciated. And I certainly could be accused of hypocrisy here, as Don could very take the same kind of crack at somebody. But when Jay does it, it hits differently I think because it's not really his schtick to do so. 2. Much more egregious and revealing: the day of or after Rickles had passed away, Jay was a guest on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show and Jimmy brings up the passing of Don and asks Jay about Don. Jay pretty much brushes it off and says, "I love that whole generation of comics," and then tells a story about Rodney Dangerfield. It was almost bizarre.

Jay can’t take it. He loves to be loved and the center of attention. He was never a big booster of his guests.- You see how mad he was getting when Rickles said, “have you ever seen yourself in the mirror?!” And Jay said, “no I’m not like you.” He was so mad and just wanted to see Rickles look bad.

I think Letterman frightened most of NBC. To me, it would seem that Leno was a friendlier choice to them. I still think Letterman fit that job best. Leno to me seems like a piñata people like to hit like Beatle fans with Yoko.

@@petesmitt I lived through that debacle. My point was Leno may have NBC choice but it fractured late night audiences and IMHO the quality of entertainment still not up to the standard for the Carson reign.

the only alleged evidence they have that he may have died was a piece of luggage they supposedly found with one of their names on it even though nobodys ever even seen it. watch the bbc doc about it, its only implications throughout the entire film then at the end they sort of sneak it in there about the luggage somethings going on for sure...
