I'm an Australian who moved to Crete 15 years ago after living for three years in Estonia and before that London. At the end of my first year on Crete, I moved back to Australia as I hadn't made friends and was scared I had made a big mistake. After 5 months back home in Australia I was really missing Crete and returned. When I came back everything fell together. It takes time to make good contacts here and I must admit most of my best friends have been expats over the years. I also have some amazing Greek friends. There are sacrifices as well as benefits. After you have been home for a while you will know if you make the right decision. I think the trick is to move to a city for the first few years so you maximise the chances of meeting like-minded people of a similar age. All the best!!

Hi, I can attest to that. I have lived in a few countries and it takes time to settle, meet people and connect to them. Sometimes you need to lose the things and people that are dear to you in order to realise how much they meant for you. I have decided to move to Crete next year. I fell in love with the island. I had lived on an island before so am no stranger to island living. I spent a week in Crete a month ago and met a great person with whom I am in daily contact since I got back to Prague. I found it very easy to talk to the locals as well. I don't think I will have problems making acquaintances and friends. One just has to make the effort and also learn the local language. Without it, it is very difficult to make the country your home.

I cannot speak for everyone, but the main reason I watched you guys was not because you were in Greece, or because I want to relocate there. What makes the channel isn't that, it's you guys. You guys are both amazing. You're genuine, down-to-earth, fun, and just great people. Watching this makes me really sad, but I hope you know - even if you create other content, we'd still love it. In Greece, Romania, USA, it doesn't matter - what matters is that you guys are in the video. You guys wouldn't need to make so many videos, but maybe upload a video every week or two, and enjoy yourselves! You guys saved me from boredom on days I worked from home (plus the streams were always super fun). I'd always do work and watch you guys simultaneously. Don't give up. Life comes with ups and downs and that is part of what makes you appreciate the good times we have. Go back to Romania and sort out what you have to take care of and when things are settled, remember your dreams and find a way to make them come true. I plan to retire in Greece. I already bought a dream plot with million dollar views that would cost $5+Million elsewhere but was a small fraction of that in Greece. I learned a lot from your videos and will be better prepared because of that. lesson #1: I am starting Greek lessons online soon. I already know "malakas", so I have a good start 😀. I am sure I will need it when dealing with the contractors and the bad drivers. Just remember that life on earth is not a practice run, so you have to work and make your dreams come true even when the path has a few detours and is not a straight line. As you can see from the many Greeks commenting here, they want you in Greece as much as you want to be there. That is a big indication of how special Greece is compared to the UK, US, Germany et al. There is not enough money in the world for me to live in Germany!!! Sure Germany is nice and prosperous but the problem is that it's full of Germans. Greece is obviously naturally beautiful but made more beautiful because it is full of Greeks (including their good and their bad habits). Greece will be waiting for you when you are ready and I am sure you will be there to make it even better. Personally, I have had many instances where blessings came in disguise. At the time those things were happening, I was thinking something was a complete disaster, I later realized that event was actually a blessing, but only after some time has passed did I realize the disaster was actually a blessing. I wish the same to you! God has a plan for you and it involves Greece, and hope you will realize it at the appropriate time.
