Hi, we are Harriet and Mauro and in February 2021 we bought an abandoned smallholding in Castellón, Spain. In these videos we share our life as we restore and improve our little stone house, learn to grow and preserve our own food, and bring our 4 acres of farmland back to productivity.

It really will be. Our Portugese Homestead have their kids Puk and Beau sometimes casually shown on their channel. It's been really beautiful, watching those two little cuties growing up off grid in Portugal. As long as their isn't any exploitation, NOT that I think for a second Harriet and Maru would do that, and they are included in a way (if at all) that suits them. Regardless, just knowing he will get to grow up in such a beautiful place, with such lovely parents, is heartwarming.

I felt like I was holding my breath for the last few months hoping everything would be ok & I can now breathe a sigh of relief. I am so happy for you both. It was also a rough road to parenthood for us & our baby had to stay in the hospital too. Visits are hard but like you we too were so grateful. HOW WoNDERFUL TO SEE YOU BOTH SO SOON. - I totally expected weeks of baby only no videos space (which would be totally understandable) .. YOU BOTH Look AMAZING and talk about "nesting" - your house wil be spectacular, Thank you for sharing some of the gifts you received - I wish I could knit - the outfits are so cute. I do sew so maybe a fall bit of corderoy will come your way for Baby Santiago. Try to fit in some canning - you'll not regret extra food stuffs being ready when you are 24-7 Santiago, and Mauro returns to work! Yay to all who helped/are helping, esp. Harriet's mom - I'm 60 and arthritic so doing your whole huge garden is a task I couldn't imagine (though I have a largish garden myself). Many, many blessings

I’m so thankful Santiago is here and gaining strength and weight on Mama’s precious liquid gold. My twins were 3 months early 30 years ago and were in the Neonatal unit. I pumped milk and went everyday to make sure they were growing. Skin to skin is so important! When he comes home, make lots of time to cuddle and snuggle him with kisses. He’s missing that right now. What a journey you’ve taken the last few months. I awaited your videos nervously hoping all was well. Mauro, you look very handsome driving on your own and being the milkman is priceless. Take life a little slower now and relish this time of being newly three!! I pray God will make Himself present in your lives! Take care of each other!!

A tip for the exposed chimney pipe: add a 6" fan to blow or suck air across the pipe. The room will warm up better. Try to arrange it so that the fan can be powered from solar panels.

Exposing the pipe will give you a surprisingly good amount of heat. We have a log burner in our sitting room and we can feel it through a brick wall upstairs in our bedroom

I think what is needed here is a bunch off followers with commitment and turn up in motorhomes with skills to give these guys a big helping hand in the spirit of self help and support for the principle of community engagement. Two weeks. sort the issues and leave them to enjoy baby and life.

Hello, I wait every week for your videos, thank you. I hope Santiago is doing well, he will have a wonderful life and home. Have you thought of sun drying the tomatoes? Its an easy process. Would hate for your lovely harvest to be wasted. I think the chimney idea is great and practical. Do you have a small air vent in the pantry? Just a few holes drilled through the thinnest wall and cover with net to stop insects, this will stop any md from appearing on the walls and affecting your food storage. I bet it feels wonderful arranging all your stuff on those shelves❤ Watching Maoro driving then hugging baby made me smile. I wish I had the time I woukd love to come over and help out, truly

The two of you deserve every bit of love and support you receive - you work so hard for what you believe in and it is really inspiring to see that you never give up. It must be quite overwhelming still with Santiago in hospital, but he is healthy and well care for.
