Which just goes to show how great of a value ECBP is when compared to rare / high-allocated / crazy expensive bottles.

I seem to remember B522 getting some grief. I loved it. The A122 was my very first ECBP, I have loved every once since. Certainly, some are better than others.
@stuffandwhiskey11 ай бұрын
B522 is definitely big time sweetness and balance compared to the proof and spice associated with ECBP. People hated on it for that but it’s dang good bottle of bourbon.

I had mixed feelings about A122. Some days. I liked it, other days, I just didn't love it.

I saw a HH17 in a store for the first time ever yesterday, was $5000. My Facebook secondary groups have it for ~$1200. Any ECBP is a shelf bottle compared to that!
@kirklandeche93711 ай бұрын
Great show as always! The tasting notes sounded great, however, with this being the Lenten season, I'm abstaining from chocolate and alcohol (ie bourbon). So I'll have to keep this in mind when Easter arrives. One week down and five more or so to go! Cheers!
@boswineguy546111 ай бұрын
Great head to head. HH17 is one of my all time favorites. I have ECBP A120 - that bourbon proofed down to 118 gets me about 80% of the way to HH17 - all of the berry notes come out with water. Cheers 🥃

An oz. pour of some 120 p can last an hour or more if you take your time. You may find that it changes, nose and palate, along the way. That's the sport of nosing and tasting. Dang, I have EC A and C 22 but no B bottle. It sounds heavenly. Cheers!
@WhiskyForBeginners11 ай бұрын
Even 90 proof juice can take a while if you pay attention to it - or if, like me, you don't have a huge alcohol tolerance. But yeah, proof can take a while. When I pour my higher proof stuff (right now it's Old Grand-Dad 114) I almost always pour less than usual, and still take the same time to finish the glass. 🥃

…did the whiskey help with the cough? Grandpa and Grandma’s cough medicine right there. I wish I knew what my grandparents gave me when I would get sick when I stayed with them. It was a whiskey but I can’t remember any details on the bottle. Just brown “cough medicine” from the liquor cabinet.

Maybe your best matchup yet! Heaven Hill 15/17 is on my bucket list of bottles. Kind of weird but I picked up two bottles of B522 last spring at a store that just happened to get a late shipment. I barely gave it a chance as A123 was demanding my attention at the time. I still have 1 and 3/4 bottles of the B522. I’ll have to revisit B522…soon.

6:23 Smaller sips with higher proof come naturally to me. Like Brylcreem, with proof "a little dab'll do ya." The flavors are more concentrated and intense with higher proof, so you can get more enjoyment from less whisky in the mouth. 🙂 14:19 I'm one of those people, sort of, though my number is above what I can actually afford. 🙂 But I also add that if a bottle is worth $200 or whatever *to you* then that's what it's worth to you, and I won't condemn you for buying it.

I loved HH17 and thought B522 was maybe a tad underrated but overall in a lackluster 2022 ECBP release year so hard to say. I am trying to remember but I think you had HH17 tied with OF150th in the blind I organized awhile back. Such a good pour that it performs in any environment. Hopefully you get to the other 2 blinds as I think you’ll enjoy those as well. After you do those I do have a blind planned for Erin but I didn’t “drop off” yet as I know you are loaded with samples at the moment.

You guys should do a video on watches, looks like you guys are into them. Is that a 58? Looks sharp man! I have the original black bay with the smiley face and black bezel. They only produced them for 11 months. Never selling!!

Love the original Black Bay with the ETA movement and "smile dial." I still kick myself for not grabbing one. This is a 14060M Submariner circa 2008. Bought it to mark a major career + personal milestone and shift in life before things got dumb with that brand and still do love the 80-00s models that still have those old rattly bracelets and classic feel. Also one I'll never sell due to the sentimentality. Cheers and you can see a lot of my watch journey over at instagram.com/stuffandwatches

@@stuffandwhiskey just checked it out, awesome journey man! Kind of similar to mine actually haha. What year is the wedding watch? Absolutely timeless. I have my grandfathers 1966 1601, two tone silver dial. The bracelet is a bit stretched but man what a feeling when I get to throw that piece on for special occasions. Last watch I have is the 126600. Very love hate relationship with it. Very sad but funny story, I tripped on the sidewalk 3 weeks after I bought the watch. Managed to smash the crystal, badly dent the bezel, and chewed the crap out of the bracelet with one stupid fall. Justbluefish actually did a video about it years ago. She’s fixed now but can’t ever look at her the same. Anyways, you guys are awesome and keep doing what you do

@stuffandwhiskey11 ай бұрын
We love B522. It’s super sweet and well rounded. As said, not a great ECBP by ECBP standards but still a great bourbon. While something like C923 might be the call for comparison, that massive of a proof difference in double blinds really does a disservice to both pours in our experience.

@@stuffandwhiskey still gotta think there should be a wide margin between B522 and HH17. I will have to look and see if I have B522 or not. Even so, C923 supposedly is better than B522 anyways and I don’t see C923 keeping up with HH17. Guess I need to do a blind and find out.
