Today we dive into American heavy metal band (from Chicago) Disturbed. 50 years after its original release, a cover version (Simon & Garfunkel) of "The Sound of Silence" was released by Disturbed in December 2015. The tune hit number one on the Billboard Hard Rock Charts!

David Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He has a tone to his voice I've never heard before. When he sings....you know who it is. He can go from baritone to angelic head voice to rasp/distortion on a dime and back....not easy to do. Also did you notice he can put vibrato on the rasp too? VERY difficult to do. Love your take on it guys!

Yes. It's a potentl performance. That's what Disturbed does. They bring the power. But they kept it acoustic. And bought it anyway.

Yes! 🙌 There are so many stories about this performance! I’m sure others will tell them. I read a comment somewhere about the difference between this and the original that said something like “Simon & Garfunkel were the prophets with the lyrics, but Disturbed is angry that no one heeded their words and now here we are in this current world.” ❤😢
