Regarding the voltage difference between European and American plugs- we thought that may be the problem too, but the heat mat that came with the baby rack had an American plug and it performed the same :( It's a great idea in theory though! We even tried plugging it into a European converter :/

I live in the Philippines and we use the same type of plug, too. Actually, we use several types lol but the two-pronged one is the widely used one. So it could be the voltage, too, because outlets here in Asia are at 220. I know US is 110 cos we have relatives there. You can plug a 220 to a 110 and it will work fine but at a lower temperature/slower rate. Try using a transformer (or converter. I dunno how you call it there 😜) and see if it goes above 75F. Hope this helps. 😊

I believe that the heatmat test is actually inaccurate, since it is ment to be used with EU outlets which have a nominal voltage of 230V while the American power outlets have a nominal voltage of 110V, meaning the Wish heatmat is effectively operating at under half of its maximum wattage (about 10W). At least with my logic, as a soon-to-be electrical engineer.

When I went to america I took my hair curlers and hair straighteners as I was going to a wedding and an EU to US adaptor and the curling tongs and straighteneres wouldnt even reach temp. My hair dryer would also run super slow. I dont think US outlets have enough power or something, might be why the heat mat didnt heat fully.
@Teaginski4 жыл бұрын
Eu appliances are built for 200+v, so they use much thinner wires internally. US uses 100+v which makes them safer but requires thicker internal wiring. So regardless of their adapter or even splicing the correct end, the whole thing was not built for US use. EU voltage is a cost saving solution whereas US is a safety solution. Unfortunately I’ve heard great things about that heating mat and I wish they had purchased the correct unit so we could see how it really performs
@persephone1534 жыл бұрын
That's why people who buy US made products (and plans on using them in a country with 220v outlets) usually use transformers or have them converted so they will run on 220v outlets. That's what we do with radios we order from the US that are 110v originally.

The big reptile product manufacturers don't include a rheostat on their heat mats for two reasons. First, they are greedy, they want you to buy a thermostat from them. @MJay-ty8ev4 жыл бұрын
I have one of those exact style mats with the US plug, though I bought it on Ebay (looks exactly like the ones on Wish & made in China too so probably the same thing). I have the small 7W one and it easily gets over 200F. The thing is, the max it can heat to is beyond the high markings on the dial; you can move the dial almost 360 to the right. This is super nice since it means it can be turned down super low to add a little, gentle supplemental heat to sensitive tropical amphibians or invertebrates during the winter when room temps may dip below optimal. It's also great that I can use my 7W mat for my leopard gecko (90F hot spot) or the more extreme temp needs of my Peter's Banded Skink (125F hot spot). The biggest downside to the mats is that the dial can easily slide out of place & w/no tick marks on the dial, you can't tell at all by look if the setting has come out of place (you need your tempt gun to tell). I found an easy, cheap fix for both. You can paint on your own tick marks using a fine tip paint brush/paint marker & once you got it dialed to where you need it, put a piece of tape over the dial to hold it in place to the plastic housing it's on. Been working great for the aforementioned skink now for a few months.

Oh man the story of cleaning French horns gave me horrible memories of high school band. My friend would spend like 10 minutes pulling out all of the tubes in his horn after class and just "draining" them on the floor. I don't know how anything can gather that much spit over the course of 45 minutes 😬

@starwolfishere534 жыл бұрын
Coming from a French horn player: 1. Its actually condensation 2. It's normal for all brass instruments 3. Condensation should be emptied regularly, and that much probably means they haven't emptied in a while. By regularly, I mean about every 10-20 minutes of playing

i think the tiny baby shelfs would be good for baby frogs. the raised bit can be land and the deeper bit can be filled with water. just a temporary place for baby frogs. an example is if you are raising milk frogs and most of them have lost their tails and you need a place to hold them for a bit while you get a bigger cage ready
