Totally agree they wouldn't make this kind of movie today; it feels like one of the last of the great, original movies, before the influx of remakes and endless sequels. It's just a great original story that feels good every watch 🤗 Jack absolutely shines here, and I also loooooove how he is with the kids, genuinely supportive and so kind. I highly recommend watching behind the scenes stuff; I've had the dvd for ages, and it was equally as fun watching them all as themselves as it was watching the actual film/characters :p

Jack Black and Kyle Gass started as actors doing bit parts, met in acting class and formed a comedic rock band, Tenacious D. After doing spots on the comedy circuit, they got a legendary HBO miniseries. This HBO miniseries brought new fans and eventually they released their debut album which exploded. Jack Black was famous for Tenacious D, and that's part of the reason he got this role.

Answering every unanswered question you all asked in the video: 1. 1:10 The name of the movie is unfortunately not a play off of School House Rock, but my entire childhood I thought it was, so I appreciate Bryce for thinking so, too 2. This isn’t an answer to a question but y’all killed me referring to Miranda Cosgrove as every one of her stage names and her real name throughout this video hahaha 3. 5:50 Joan Cusack is known (by me and my mom, at least) for her amazing first performance in Sixteen Candles, she was the girl w the neck brace lol. She’s also been in a lot of others w bigger roles 4. 10:15 Yes piano boy is good- and is actually playing the piano! They all actually played, as many comments already have said. There’s a reunion video of all of them 10 years later playing at a bar w Jack 5. 11:09 Yes Zach, Iron Man is originally from School of Rock, 2003. 6. 14:03 Zach, Rob knew the “sun will come out tomorrow” song the girl was singing because it’s from Annie, he also said he’s seen this movie many times were you listening at all, king 7. 16:04 YES there’s a remix of Back In Black that Jack did for one of the Kid’s Choice Awards when he hosted, I think like 2008

A lot of Battle of the Bands are “rigged”. Most of the time the venue putting on the show will give each band a stack of tickets to sell. Of course they sell tickets at the door but not nearly as many as whats bought from bands. And since the winner is voted for by the crowd, then the band that sold the most tickets is going to win. If you bought a ticket from a band, you are likely a co-worker, friend, or family member so it stands to reason you’ll vote for the band you bought a ticket from. It’s unfortunate. I’ve been a part of multiple BotB’s and the winners are never as good as some of the other bands, even if they were better than mine.

I love this movie, they adapted it into a stage play which was pretty solid, but the original cast is so good it just can’t quite compare. The first time I saw it, it was a blow off day just before Christmas break, the high school choir, drama, and band teacher played it in drama class. It didn’t go as far as converting me into taking band next semester, but I’ve watched it dozens of times during high school, and I have the whole thing memorized. 😂 Schoolhouse Rock was a show from the early 70s. It is not related to the movie. Mike White actually was inspired by The Langley Schools Music Project, a project put on by four Canadian elementary school in the mid-70s to record children’s choirs singing pop songs of the time: Rolling Stones, Beatles, David Bowie, Eagles, etc. The records were lost until 2001 when they were rediscovered, remastered and actually became a huge hit. If you’re watching Barry this season, the Langley Project’s version of Desperado is in an episode. The music is actually really haunting and beautiful. I would recommend you give it a listen. :)
