As we mentioned in the video, we are very aware that things could’ve been A LOT worse and we are thankful that it wasn’t. But this was still a very unexpected mishap that has personally impacted us and our feelings of frustration are still valid. We keep a lot of other struggles to ourselves, but wanted to share this to show the highs and lows of this journey and so no one wonders why our window looks janky in future videos.

Totally makes your adventures more memorable. Been there done that with rv'ing for years, travelled 5 times across Canada and USA roads trips. We should have documented them, lol. One was scary in Yellowstone, truck and camper that time, snow storm! Deep snow, so by 2 AM, we decided to book out of there, drove to Idaho where there was no snow. All this travel with a dog and a cat too. One of many adventures, also lots of good ones. But funny the not so good ones really stay with you. Thanks for sharing this one of yours.

Well, that was a big bummer! HOWEVER.... I think its GREAT that you shared this mishap. I think it is important to show that despite the wonderful opportunity you both have to share these adventures on the road, travel and explore and produce entertaining and helpful travel content... that life isn't all sunshine and roses. I'm sure the "lost" 6 days were frustrating, but using the time to work was good and I really liked your creative, temporary solution for the window until you are able to get the replacement. GOOD JOB!

Hi Kathryn, hi Adam!! No worries about such content, in fact, you're giving real lessons learned about handling mishaps. Ehhh, *stuff* happens and you guys manage to do the best you can showing resourcefulness, teamwork, acknowledging the frustration and keeping on keeping on. I bet you can look back on it and laugh after some time about backing into a bush. Sending good vibes to you and looking forward to more videos up to Alaska :)

Thanks for showing the not so fun parts of adventure. Things don’t always go as planned and no matter how big or small the mishap is it still throws you and the plans off and you have to adjust and regroup. Plus as you said it’s your life in the van so you can’t just be nonchalant about it. So glad you worked out a solution and plan, fingers crossed it holds up 😀

I'm glad you shared this. We've been full time RVing for about a year and a half and we learned quickly that things don't always go as planned! In late January we were leaving our campground in Central Texas when our tow bar broke right before we got to the highway. The only thing keeping our car hooked up to the RV were the safety cables. The car crashed into the back of the RV and damaged both the RV and the car. The RV was not too bad, but the car had extensive damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt and no other vehicles were involved. We were able to go back to the campground that we had left and they were able to accommodate us while we got the car repaired. Over two months later and we are FINALLY back on the road, so I know how frustrating it is to have something like this happen, especially these days with all the supply chain issues. I'm glad you're back on the road!

I can sympathize all to easily, as this is very familiar to me. My first camping vehicles was an older, used conversion van. After I had it a couple years, some jerk kid threw a rock at it as I was driving past, cracking one of the aftermarket side windows. None of the glass shops had anything to replace it in stock, and few thought it feasible to find a replacement. After a couple days of research, one said they could get one in in a few weeks if I was willing to pay about $1500. Ouch! I ended up cutting out piece of plexiglass much like you did, then attaching it with construction adhesive and a few screws through it into the frame of broken window. You guys did a great job improvising your temporary fix. Good luck on making the permanent fix happen!

Oh Adam and Catherine so sorry about this! Jim and I need to catch up on your travels as my husband and I have been renovating our kitchen since March. Thought I better see what the heck is going on here. Kona says "Dad you are doing good, as long as we're together I'm happy dog!" Don't be too hard on yourself you are doing great working through this together, very good example for others to follow! Also a wise and kind lady I worked with years ago pointed out to me that perhaps these "slow downs" on the road are protecting us and others from a much worse outcome. Love you two and glad you are all well and healthy and the van is the only thing needing a bandage😉!
