Love the video of your trip down Foxton Locks. I live about 15 minutes from there and visit quite often. The outtakes are hilarious keep them coming.

Another wonderful vlog. Love your history lesson, especially I’m in the US and nice to learn history of other places from the people who live there. Good luck fast healing on surgery. Love the bloopers!

Thank you 😊 The history of our canal system fascinates me! The engineering involved, is staggering considering they didn't have the tools and tech we do nowadays. We always appreciate your comments 😊

Thank'z for the indepth look at Foxton Locks fom a boaters perspective. I live quite close to Foxton and have visited the locks several times and have seen what goes on from a gongunsekers persprctive. I do watch your channel each week though this is the first time I have commented. All the best. Gary.

Good Luck with your surgery i hope all goes well, and the bit with Kev and his Mic looked and sounded weird, as always the bloopers were hilarious, shame more boaters don't do them. Good Luck

Really enjoyed seeing Foxton Locks….we may add that to our list of stops when we visit from the U.S. next year! Loved the history! I definitely agree with you that the background noises are preferred. Good luck with surgery🙂

Thank you again guys, I guess this vlog was made in November, judging by the weather, so glad you showed us Foxton locks, we will be travelling that route in February, weather permitting lol, we will have 28 days to find out if the canal life is for us hopefully we will bump into you, not literally of course, although with my steering anything’s possible 🥴🥴 keep up the good work, excellent
@midlifecrisisboatingАй бұрын
Yes, we are pretty much up to date now 😊 Foxton is beautiful and a 'must do' if you are in the area. We'd also recommend the Welford arm and the Market Harborough arm if you are travelling this way! We are sure you'll fall in love with the lifestyle 😊

Hey guys just watched your vlog this week, the history of the boat lift was very interesting. I did agree with you, Kev’s mic was odd with no sound of the boat or the water. Loved the bloopers when you couldn’t get the ending, very funny! 😊 Gordon and Karen

Hi Mic and Emma, sorry mean Kev 🤣 bless you 😂 bloopers are brilliant. The mic that Kev wears, no no no good, as you said Emma, it’s like it’s superimposed. Not natural at all. Good luck with the op by the way. I trust the recent weather has not given any problems there? Take care x

Think I'd definitely prefer the narrow locks to wide locks such as the one at BOA
@midlifecrisisboatingАй бұрын
They are gentler than the wide locks that's for sure. A bit easier as a single boater too 😊
@heidimacarthur7205Ай бұрын
Going down those very narrow locks, do you bump the boat off the walls at all? Not on purpose of course. Some of the locks sure look deep. I don’t know how you do all that videoing without making more bloopers. They are funny though. That’s for sharing your journey. See you next week. Cheers!
@dave_a81Ай бұрын
There will naturally be some slight bumping and rubbing in a single lock. The slower and more controlled the paddles are operated the better controlled (usually) the water is. This should in turn hopefully reduce the turbulence and bashing about. But no two locks are the same, paddles/gates can be leaking and the force of the water can be surprisingly ferocious.
@midlifecrisisboatingАй бұрын
Yes, the narrow locks are a challenge to steer the boat into and sometimes you bump a little. The good thing about the narrow locks is that you don't get thrown from side to side like you do in the wide locks, but as Dave said, you can minimise the bumping by releasing the water slower 😊 I do have to leave some bloopers out...there are so many 😂
@nigelbranchett7718Ай бұрын
Nice bit of work, Emma, liked the history which is perhaps something we don't appreciate, they were clever and no computers full of Bill Gates rubbish! The mikes on (Mike) or Kev, are not very David Attenborough are they. I also watch a lot of photographic channels and the mics they go for seem to be Rode, may be costly I don't know, trying to help! I'll let you off this week, NO DOGS!
@midlifecrisisboatingАй бұрын
The history of the canal system fascinates me. Kev reckons if it were to be redesigned nowadays, it'd be over engineered! You are right...no dogs! What the??? I can only apologise 🤪 We did give you a shout out tho 😉
@nigelbranchett7718Ай бұрын
@@midlifecrisisboating Yes, appreciated that a lot, any thing for the promotion of dogs homed or otherwise! I think Kev is totally right, we would kill it by overdoing it. Bit like our towns and cities that all look the same just as the lefty globalists want it, sorry!
