I like and admire the enthusiasm informing all these videos. And the technical information. I've got a preference for the 200 MANUAL over the auto. But both are good on the open road...80 kw and the top speed given as 163 km/hr, I think. Yes, MB-tex way superior to leather UNLESS the leather been properly treated all its life. "A nice ride": the ride depends entirely on the state of Suspension components and quality tyres, properly balanced and aligned./ Of course, at altitude, taking off up a hill in a 200 is not the happiest thing. But as I said, as a cruiser on open road, if well set up, they are absolutely fine.

Great car the 200. I had a manual and my brother an auto. I prefer the auto. Pity they never sold these in the USA.

What I enjoyed most about my 123 was the suspension. Dirt roads now and then was a pleasure to drive.

That microphone is working against you guys 😪 It's worth investing in something decent.

This one was pretty expensive. Sounds ok to me, at what point in the video do you pick up an issue?
@wwd756214 сағат бұрын
@@oldmercguy at 4:43 and as you walking around the car outside theres some audio distortion, almost like poor phone signal
@justinblackett14 сағат бұрын
@@oldmercguy The most obvious issues were during the walkaround... I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and assume it's a bluetooth mic which is connected to the phone you're recording with (I could be wrong). Timestamps... 03:09, 03:27, 04:33, 04:44, 04:53... Whenever you turn away from the camera / phone, you put your body between the mic and phone, which messes with the high frequency 2.4GHz bluetooth signal and causes the audio to break up. Overall though, I would rate the audio quality on that mic as mediocre at best. It fails to capture almost all of the subtle engine noises, which is a huge pity. Please take the criticism of the mic as constructive. I love watching your channel, and you actually bought a 1977 W123 300D from us many years ago, broken timing chain and cracked timing cover 😂 If I may, I'd recommend a Rode Wireless Go II with a wind muff / fluffy wind shield thing (we live in windy PE, so the wind muff is essential). Yes I know that setup is properly expensive, but it'd take your videos to the next level, being able to hear all the subtle details like engine noise and all the rest would be awesome! I wish you guys all the best!

Thanks Justin, yes that’s a great explanation for the distortion. I’ll look into the one you mentioned though, sound like a decent solution. Yeah I remember that 300d, near The Pink Fig.

@@oldmercguy Yep that was the one, right around the corner from The Pink Fig. Please do look into that specific mic and a wind muff, it'd make a huge difference and put your channel in the same league as some of the big international KZbinrs, in my opinion. Everything else you guys are doing is excellent! Keep well and keep up the good work!

I actually prefer the automatic W123's to the manuals. Had a 200 auto and a 230E manual for many years.Both very reliable rust free cars . Service them religiously every 6 months if you want a pleasant long term ownership experience and keep them dry to prevent rust horrors !

Has an 85 200 manual. They were prone to timing chain (not belt) weakness, no double chain. Also could have a knock on small end bearings - wouldn't cause any damage. Had terrible experiences with breaking down due to failure of the carb multiple times. Also had a 200 with the squared off lobes. Noisy!
