Have done the Alpha course and Im MCS qualified. One of the big drawbacks is the size of this heat pump. Good for a 1 bed house or flat. 4 kW not going to give you any substantial heat on a 3 bed house. Great idea but they need to increase the size of the heat pump outputs. I have heat pump and all heat pumps can be linked in to a gas boiler.

4kW for 8 hours is 32kwh of heat into the property, about £3.50 on current gas prices, my 3 bed 70s semi often needs less than that during most of the heating season.

It appears that this is mostly just suitable for those who have combi boilers and no hot water cylinders. Otherwise, might as well upgrade the rads and make the leap to a full ASHP.

I haven't heard anything about any updates to the BUS scheme to account for these, do you know when they're reviewing it?

One of the main issues is the flow temperature, so the customer has to pay 3.3 times the cost of a gas condensing combi for the kit, and then be told "your flow temp has to be 45/50 degrees" for it to be super efficient, but in the customers eyes they will just say and they do "the house is not hot enough and the rads are warm" for some to then say "oh here is a quote for more efficient rads" or similar, so ££ followed by ££ followed by ££. not to mention saying to them, oh this big unit goes on the outside (that can not be worked on if its raining or severely wet). these units are really best suited for new builds that have been sized and fully insulated, or similar.. I feel sorry for the installers who have to deal with the callbacks, complaints and potentially more from unhappy customers who were not given the full facts, what it will and won't do, and running costs, like you say, at the current time, gas is cheaper than electricity (unless you sell them solar too). some are even being cold called and being told that gas is ending in 5 years, just so they get a sale, this is bad practice. but it is good that many manufacturers and sales websites are listing many facts as possible.i can just see the Grid failing mid winter, with EV's and suchlike being used. but good video tho. loved the content.🖐

The government grant doesn't cover hybrid systems currently, but would be great to see this happen!

My understanding is that this will be the way forward, ASHP works for 90% of time, Combi kick in during cold months when ASHP would not cope. Is that right?

If you click through to get a boiler quote the hybrid will come up as one of the options which you can select. We then require you to upload some photos so that we can assess whether a hybrid heat pump would work in your home.

Not 100% sure what subsidy is currently available to do an ASHP course, but ASHP manufacturers such as Worcester Bosch offer a course at £25 for both hybrid and ASHP's.

Yes, it will work but it will reduce the efficiency as the system will have to work harder.
