@@StephenGlencross-yg4nt They have covered this previously. This involves carving out a mountain and not digging soil. It involves heavy machinery difficult to bring up the mountain and costs more than the property is worth. Instead they will ‘tank’ the walls internally and have an internal drain. Makes good sense under the circumstances.

I agree. "hard is OK" is one of the most important lessons we can teach our children by them observing us. They observe so much of the contrary these days! And every time Brady walks around that room, I imagine the same. I see them up there having their coffee like they did on the reservoir, but in their style they created for it.

My oh my!!! I am so very glad I found your YT channel months ago when you had just begun to work on tjis new house. Well, fast forward to now, you all have done an incredible amount of hard work making adjustments needed. What a wonderful thing you as parents to think outside the norm and move to Italy to start a new life for your family. The girls should be very proud to know that they are experiencing life growing up as many of us back in the US will only dream of. Thank you all for sharing and doing whatever it takes to complete this vast project. I cannot wait to see the finished house with all the neat furniture you choose. Has anyone count how many wheelbarrows of cement it required for ONE wall?! WOW! Superb workmen! They know how to work in difficult situations and difficult surroundings, let alone a mountain side. I am guessing their motto would have been "No job is difficult! Bring it on!". You have done a great job pitching in along with the men! Heather does her job the best, to sand and paint! It will be beautiful! Cement on face LOL!

Counting sheep...more likely wheel barrows of cement mix...I'll bet it was a relief to lay your head too sleep after that day...what a crew, but more so, what an unbelievable work ethic, your family will be rewarded every single morning that you wake up in that beautiful/peaceful valley...Cost...priceless... I can't wait to see the final build and hope that there are some local antiquities included in the décor, my favorite build in the many, many builds that I watch on U-tube, thank you for allowing all of us along for the ride.

It’s a humongous project with the unexpected challenges, recalibration, restrictions, etc. Even so, you are moving ahead with patience, fortitude, and positivity. Yes I agree with you they should all be wearing masks when sanding, and with all the cement dust, over time these hazardous materials can cause cancers. I was also shocked that they don’t wear ear protection.

that lift must be in fairly widespread use in Italy. When we restored our apartment in Verona in 1987, in a narrow street on an upper floor, the muratori used same system to avoid carrying stuff up from the street, both to avoid the extra work and to keep the interior stairway clean and clear. Your daughters will grow up knowing their parents love them so much they built them a forever home in a glorious place. They will grow up bilingual and cultured, well travelled and knowledgeable. You two really are an inspiration.😊😊 Also, once again, you demonstrated that it’s the prep work that matters for a good result. Lord above you lot can work! As I watched, I was thinking, in NZ, Health & Safety would have you all wearing hi viz vests, gloves, helmets, glasses, boots…., there would be cones and special fences everywhere. As for that pulley system… enough to give an inspector conniptions. Thank goodness you are in Italy!

Tying wires to join walls together for strength also plastic membrane to stop water and damp between the walls with a field drain beyond to run water and soak away from your housse good luck .
