Why is it that people like you, with a couple of tripods, a phone, a drone, a home computer, and a bucket of nous, can make films that are far more entertaining, artistic and informative than most of the stuff on telly? Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Devon, where it's just as wet and windy!

Back in the late 1970’s, my late husband and I walked up those steps to Sacré Coeur in Paris. He passed away four years ago this week and seeing your vlog brought back many happy memories. We stayed in Pigalle in an ancient hotel that did not turn on the heat in May thus we spent our first day in Paris looking for warm long johns. 🤣 I am sorry to see that you have lost more trees. Stay out of the woods during those wind storms! Fluffy and the donkeys are so fun to watch. Lincoln has really made quick work of dismantling the upstairs. Thanks for the wonderful vlog, as usual. 🎉

Watching your channel gets me a little upset at myself! Your hard work, inside and outside I start thinking of how I could clean up the garage, paint some old benches, power wash the northern side of our house, prepare and wash flower pots so I can plant new bulbs....all in all, aside my guilt, its great to just sit down with a cup of coffee and watch you create amazing rooms, your animals which are so well cared for, your laughter and humour and your joie de vivre!!

Trees live long, but they are not immortal. We have a few acres of woods beyond our Japanese garden behind the house. Sometimes wind storms knock the old ones down. If they fall all the way down, I leave them where they lie. If they fall against another tree, I get out the chain saw and drop them to the ground. We don't heat with wood--too polluting. We have no use for them and they are usually partially rotten anyway. They go back into the earth, as we all do eventually.

Well - I've just finished all of your videos and am now in withdrawal. I may re-start. Your work, inside and out, is inspiring. I feel like such a whiner when I compare what (comparatively little) I need to do to my own chateau in Louisiana. So glad you are posting twice per week (there's the acknowledgement you needed!) Love the rescue animal content - I would love to see occasional focused segments on each one, such as Enzo's story. And where do all the indoor cats hang out? Do some of them have confidentiality agreements like your daughters do?

The thing I love about old shops like the cooking shop is the goods for sale may be new, but the dirt in the corner is from 1850 . I need a Paris fix soon, but unfortunately my husband just got diagnosed with terminal cancer. So it will be a few months at least. Maybe next spring. Your hotel looked lovely. I like to stay on Le Cluer but I’ll check out yours next time I’m looking. Stay out of wind storms, the trees are called widow makers for a reason.

I think a lot of people are not aware that English Ivy is highly damaging to stone and mortar work on building, including garden walls. It is a perfect, living example of how the hardest substance can still be penetrated with the dullest object over a long time. If you watch any of the other chateau channels on YT, you will notice that some of the owners mistakenly plant English Ivy in their landscaping beds next to their chateaux..... I have only seen one owner plant Boston Ivy, so I am thinking he knows the difference. 🤔

So sad. All the old trees around this old farmhouse are dying too. Walking my dog I noticed, on the way back, one of the pines is leaning. I pray it stays a couple more years. I've been looking for a European Chess Nut but I'd have to buy a tiny 6 gallon at the most near here. Ours is more than half gone yet it still blooms the most beautiful white flowers. I haven't the heart to cut the rest down. Soon. They do make such a loud crack when they fall, huh? The donkeys don't look the least disturbed.

It looks like the forest you have needs maintenance. Too many trees fall over and can cause a real danger for your buildings. An arborist can check all your trees and tell you which ones are dangerous and should be trimmed or cut (and can do the job safely). It may cost a bit, but it will save you a lot of headaches and trouble later and you can keep more trees if they are trimmed in time. Forests that are part of a parc like your garden should be maintained from time to time. A friend here in Belgium does that for a job, and he says you should check your forest at least each 5 years to avoid (largely) falling trees. From what i see, and with the little knowledge i got on the subject, it looks like your forest wasn't checked nor maintained for decades... And a happy birthday to Lincoln...

The plant you say is not dangerous we call ‘Virginia Creeper’ in England. It looks beautiful on your home. You're correct on that Boston Ivy (in French Vigne vierge) is in the grape family. They're so beautiful, and I love how they look on your chateau. So sorry about all the tree losses, kinda heartbreaking, it's been such a bad year for that here, though I don't think this part of la Manche got hit as hard as other parts. Amanda your refined aesthetic revealed through your excellent cinematography is joy to watch. I loved the trip to Paris, thank you. You should have way more subs, it’s like a hidden gem here. Seems like inviting Nick the Tree Surgeon up to your place for a week might be a really good idea. That is to take down the most vulnerable trees and pollard and or reduce height of others to safe guard them, your home and your access. More wild weather is unfortunately here.

Few tears fell from my eyes, cuz it is fun to see someone living in such a dream. It’s simply a fairytale ever after! I love every moment, even holding my breath as plaster boards fall!😰🫣Your Forest, towers high into the sky! Thinking as you probably have already, to bring in French Forestry Division? Volunteers? They want to save trees where/when possible. (I read it online😉) Maybe could offer help or direction in pruning trees down a tad, to preserve these priceless heirlooms. Your property is a Historic Wonderland! The amazing Alle’, the humungous Hydrangeas, beautiful Boston Ivy, gorgeous Gardens, charming Chateau and everything else takes my breath away literally! Damn but you get a lot of rain and wind in Normandy. You must feel at home as the Pacific coast weather is similar. I think I'll take the snow instead of the constant rain. Happiest birthday Lincoln. Looks like you got spoiled with that new tractor!!

They actually live in Brittany (Bretange), the region south-west of Normandy. The castle where they live, Château de Lingourdy, is based in Le Bodeo, a very small village not far from the city of Saint-Brieuc in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Britanny.

@@marierisdon8894It's a very different region, as it was an indpendent state untill 1477, where people spoke Breton (a Celtic language similar to Welsh & Cornish, with which it shares it's origin. That language is almost extinct now, but i still knew people who spoke it (who moved to Belgium after WOII). They died (at relative hig age) a few decades ago altough... But the Celtic roots of the region is still very present today, and names of places, especially more rural places still reflect that, just like the very old historic monuments of that region. More west, the language is still spoken also by elder people in small villages, but as France had and has a policy of one standard language (Parisian French), those local languages (and France have a lot of them) are slowly disappearing).

Happy Birthday Lincoln 🎉🎉. Is your vine on the front of the chateau a Virginia Creeper? Just wondering. I agree that it looks beautiful. Deborah. North Carolina 😊
