GC8s have such a timeless body design, there's just something beautiful about the sleek body lines/side profile. Never been a fan of the Evo series after the 3rd generation, but I can't doubt their performance. Overall I have to agree the Type R takes it because of it's character and uniqueness (totally not biased because I drive one)

The vent on the Subaru's roof is actually to create a positive cabin pressure to ensure dust on rally stages doesn't enter the car. Even modern WRC cars have them but they look a little more atheistically pleasing.

Team evo for life, had a bad experience with a GC8 once (conrod bearing). Impreza handles well compared to an evo but if asked to own either one then its an evo for sure. More parts available here, easy to maintain, easy to make it go faster.

Love both always be a Subi guy, but the EVI TME is sick, but the rumble is better than the jungle! Can’t beat a Subis rumble..Bs on sales, the 22b sold out in less than 3minutes.. Plus Subaru variants which are many, did the EVO ever come as a 2 door, NO.. that alone is cool, though the hatch variant Impreza is my lest favorite, they also made a hatch did a Mitsubishi make an EVO hatch, STI made a Legacy variant and a Forester variant which was on the Impreza chassis, that’s sick. You can tell the difference it has 2 doors, EVO has four, that alone is cool and screams true race car, real race cars have 2 doors not four.. does the GR Yaris have 4 doors? All that said, I do love the EVO 5 in Wasp Yellow with the Ralliart decals, the TME 6.5 is legendary and up they’re with the 22b, imo the P1 is even more rare than the Tyle R and 22b, but many things set the 22b apart, width, body panels fully closed deck engine etc etc, but actually P1s are rarer. Imo the 6.5 tME really should be compared with a GD chassis, again the RB320 (Richard Burns edition Hawkeye is super rare and super sick) 320 was for 320 only produced and also celebrated his world championship. The 5/6.5 and MR9 FQs are my fav EVOs. Both are sick versions of a what a JDM performance rally car for road represent appreciate! don’t hate!

Owned an EVO VI and now have an STi RA. Both fantastic cars but the RA is the car I kept. It is a more visceral experience and imo a lot more fun, and honestly every bit as quick.

@@umarmars47more fragile internals on STI. More fragile gearbox on STi. AYC on EVO is an advantage. EVO has shorter path from turbo to intercooler and to throttle body and is more responsive. I have had a WRX and I own an EVO 6. You can’t run 26psi on a stock turbo on the STi lol without blowing the engine - you can on the EVO

They're very different machines, but I would highlight that the GR Yaris has very similar feel to these generation cars in terms of steering input and AWD traction. They're not the same thing, but what the GRYaris has is an essence of what these cars were like back then - simple, focused, and very unique in the way it delivers fun & performance. I could extend in terms of handling, chassis, etc but would be a full write up here. XD But overall, the GR Yaris delivers an all round package better than both these cars put together - newer technology, better NVH, electronics and infotainment, etc. Hope that helps. :D
