@@fabrb26 Its vaguely similar yes but so are most 90s era cars. It has a lot of design features and body lines found on none of these cars. Plus the unique advantage of the boxer engine allowing for a much lower hood/bonnet. The ratio of the windscreen height to the rest of the car is also very clear looking at the car in person, especially when you sit in it.

The Australian STI has 3 gauges instead of the storage bin on top of the centre console only the WRX models and we get the JDM models here only USA don't get them ( they get the 2.5L RS Impreza )? Also extra cup holder that folds out inside the arms rest but most people swap the single for a double from the same year model Forester ( Handy Tip ). And all models come with SRS its a must by our laws only difference was that Australian models diff ratios were changed to be longer for fuel economy and we retuned at a later date to 98 Octane as Service stations here no longer sold 100 Octane anymore and all WRX and STI models were sold with a 4 pin Genuine Subaru Immobiliser pin pad for insurance purposes lol I still have mine on my MY99 GC8 WRX and sun roofs were optional extras which i have one but were aftermarket installed. The models your referring to in this video are limited models in our Australian market in that hideous yellow and another silver colour known as EVO SPEC and come with leather interior that is the only difference from a WRX and is not a STI spec here. Weird how our markets sell them different even though we have the same compliance and VIN plates. STI here in Australian can come in White, Blue, Gun metal Gray, and Gold Rims with Green Decal bigger than usual WRX centred in the Rear of the boot with STI wings and 2 - 4 doors models available all with rear wipers. The pink Blossom cheery colour badge on the front behive grill and optional STI fog light covers but banned for use unless in adverse weather permitted all with red Manifolds and the water spray STI top mounts. WRX and STI's get the MOMO steering wheel here as well. only STI's have a 6 speed gear box as standard the WRX models only have 5 speed. The STI model has suade bucket seats and the WRX gets material bucket seats the EVO SPEC gets leather Buckets.

Excellent video, only negative is that you should show an acceleration run on each car, people want to hear and see how they go. I was disappointed you didn’t do this. FYI I remember hearing that one of the engineers responsible for the STI Impreza development always ranked the Version 3 STI as the best. It was apparently a little more raw with higher lift cams than the later versions and revved to 8250rpm. For me though, the ultimate is the original STI, the very first handmade closed deck block model. Very very rare to find now. My dream collection would be an original STI (not called ver 1, the version name only came after the original ie ver2,3,4,5,6) A Ver 2 STI Type RA and a Version 3 STI and a Ver 5 STI Type R. Great cars, better than the EVO’s (I’ve owned both) The impreza had more character and nice short gearing with a lovely revvy short stroke boxer unit made the drive more fun. Buy them while you can!!

I've owned three gc8 Sti's and one Evo 6. From my experience they are both great machines considering all of them drive great for 20+ year old cars. They may not have the looks that the gtr, rx7, supra, ect have. But they hold there own if not surpass all of those cars in stock form. Though they are limited in the modification relm unless you have deep pockets. Though I would say as stock cars they are the most fun to own. I do prefer them over any modern cars for the fun factor. Though age is showing with these cars now. It is near impossible to find one that does not have some reliability problems or another since they are so old now.

I’ve had my V6 sti for almost 7 years. I’m half tempted to sell it and buy a hatchback STI but I know it’ll be one of those automotive regret moments (that I’ve had so many of!) Its interesting how it’s become more classic in last couple of years. I’ve had imprezas for 20 years & always taken them when I watch rallycross locally, in recent years its had a lot more interest from people wanting to talk or take pics.

zeroyon223 I know, you’re right. I had a couple of Type R’s back in the day too, one being a grey V5. The Impreza I wish I’d kept tucked away was a 95 sti RA as it was mint, just don’t see them for sale anymore. Nobody wanted them years ago, the RA cost me £3k or so, bet it’d be over £10k for the same quality example now (if you can find one)
