What I find remarkable in my country is that it has so many different traditions around food. I was born and raised in the North of Portugal, and a lot of our culinary traditions are remarkably different from the ones in Alentejo or Algarve. For all you foodies our there, take a food tour of Portugal from North to South - you won't be disappointed. Best wishes from Porto

I'm from Algarve. I live in Loulé, near Faro. Our food is the best. I love "polenta", corn flour, with seafood. We call polenta "Xarem" or "xerem", the name is an inheritance of the Arabs. Sorry my bad english. Thank's for your visit.
@josedasilva57582 жыл бұрын
At the time the corn was only in América
@jorgegoncalves72952 жыл бұрын
@@josedasilva5758 A palavra "xarem" ou "xerem" tem origem controversa, mas uma das origens possíveis é a árabe, com o significado de papa de grãos, independentemente de ter sido associada à papa de farinha de milho - milho do origem mexicana.
@josedasilva57582 жыл бұрын

That's some serious Portuguese food and you just made my mouth water and my eyes as well, I;m a Portuguese national living in Wales UK so I know all those flavors and I miss them so much, I can cook many Portuguese recipes and you can check them out in my channel but there are still literally hundred of flavors I can't yet reproduce as we don't have access to all ingredients... FYI the stringy eggs dessert you tried is called "fios d'ovos" which literally means egg strings and there's allot of technic to the process, maybe I'll show you some day :)

As a child of Italian heritage, we grew up eating lupini beans! My grandmother from Italy would brine them and can for the family to enjoy. Of course, you do not eat the outside waxy skin, just pop the insides into your mouth. We continue as adults enjoying with a splash of good olive oil, salt and pepper! Great snack :)

Why, but why did I have to watch it!!!? Seriously, great vlog. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Keep it up! PS: It is the first time that I have seen anyone eating the filling of a "pastel de nata" with a spoon... weird, but tasty?
@flyingthenest6 жыл бұрын
We were actually told that is the way some locals eat it here - with cinnamon on tip... DELICIOUS!!!
@miguelcoelho38776 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's right, with cinnamon and icing sugar on top -- but I have never seen anyone scooping the filling out with a spoon. Well, the main thing is that you enjoyed eating it. Good luck!
@miguelcoelho38776 жыл бұрын
How strange, Sali Bina, I thought the whole point of eating a piece of pastry such as a "pastel de nata" was to experience the contrasting flavours between the slightly savoury taste of the crusty base, and the creamy sweetness of the filling -- the "natas". Oh well, I suppose it takes all sorts... But spoon it or bite into it, the main thing is to enjoy them. And your morning coffee!
