I actually order the kids menu at Olive Garden, it's totally a whole grownup meal. I get the fettuccine alfredo with broccoli and extra sauce, and it's enough for me and I'm a big person. It comes with the breadsticks too. They don't have the kids meals on the menu tho so you either look online or ask the server, who has them memorized. I just act like I'm not that hungry so "I'll just have the kids fettuccine". I even have a little bit of leftovers usually.

Same, even now, when I see my little brother order from the kids menu, I think back on my own childhood. I’d get the kids menu to color but order from the adults. I don’t want the Kraft Mac and cheese or grilled cheese I have at home when I go out, I want the good, savory food. If given the option, my little brother does too. He loves his vegetables and actual meals. Also, not what’s in the freezer at home, like corn dogs.

There is a great authentic Italian restaurant in my city and they have some simple options. Like just butter and cheese. The one that also has pepper is amazing! They make their own pasta. At home I like putting infused olive oil on pasta for an easy meal. Lemon is my fave atm but garlic and chilli is good too . I want to buy a parmesan infused oil I saw online

restaurants love making kids meals from generic brand items. the kids meals at this one place i hosted at used Aldi branded smile fries and chicken nuggets, they charged $8.50 for that. this other deli i worked at also did a similar thing, using cheaper cheese and meat for the kids meal, but eventually people just stopped getting the meals all together and they took it off the menu.
