The Minecraft cookbook is one I could not look at solo, enter Minecraft content creator Zedaph to help bring, or perhaps that should be build... a very fun Swedish Smörgåstårta sandwich cake!

Sandwich cakes are very popular here in Finland, made with almost anything savory, salmon, shrimp, ham, Mexican chicken and decorated very elaborately. We moisten the bread with water and lemon juice in between to make it easier to spread the filling.

@@mrbarrylewis That's the best thing about Smörgåstårta! You make it the way YOU want, with the ingredients YOU like. I've seen many videos from Americans and Brits talking about a specific Sandwich cake recipe as if it's the ONLY recipe, and then saying they don't like it. My mom has four different (as in COMPLETELY different recipes) for this cake, and for big events she has sometimes made all four of them at the same time. They are infinitely customisable because it's just bread and toppings shaped like a cake. And you can use different types of bread as well to add some variation. Fun fact. It is almost mandatory to serve smörgåstårta at confirmations and funerals. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever been to a funeral where they didn't serve sandwich cake 🙂. Other than that it has fallen somewhat out of fashion, but I sure hope it is making a comeback as you say! I LOVE smörgåstårta! 😀

Same here! My mom always made atleast 2 versions when she made smörgostårta for any celebrations. 1 was fish & shrimpthemed the other one was ham & cheesethemed, both had cucumber tomato lettuce & grapes on them. Both also was utterly delicious.

You can make smörgårdstårta with almost anything but my favorite will always be the classic mix of shrimp, egg, caviar and cold smoked salmon and/or gravad salmon, all with dill, red onions and cucumber of course. Smörgårdstårta is always best after the flavour has seeped into the bread so wait a day to eat it for the most delicious experience. Here in Sweden we have bread meant for smörgårdstårta and it's the same width as a normal piece of bread but three-four slices long and it makes it much easier and quicker to build it. The long slices also make the finished smörgårdstårtan more stable since you turn each bread layer 90 degrees, like jenga. Now I'm really craving some smörgårdstårta....

This is fairly popular here in Iceland as well, it's called Brauðterta here. You can find this at birthday parties, christenings, wakes, pretty much any party. Usually with Tuna, Shrimp or Ham. There are even special rolls of bread sold specifically for this this cake

Great to see you, Zed! Barry, if my family had an official dish, this would be it, only we call it sandwich loaf and it involves cheez whiz as a layer and usually tuna salad. My grandma started it in the 60s and my sister still makes them for gatherings. Tip: they slice much better if you fridge them overnight first. Thanks for doing this!

(smörgås-tårta, sandwich cake) it's so tasty! and there really isn't a set recipe for one, so if there's something you don't like, or something you want to add, go for it! the ones I usually eat consists of mainly of shrimp, eggs, ham, cucumber, and mayo mixed with a fruit cocktail.... I realize that doesn't really sound good, but it is! thanks for making this!
