If you're out to absolutely pack the cooler with sheepshead treble hooks are the key. Gamakatsu #2 with a shrimp wrapped around it and pierced in 3 places; you will hook up with damn near every bait. It's not very sporting but if your out to fry some fish that's how you smoke em.

A whole new world opening up. Nightcrawlers,Salmon eggs, Zeke's floating cheese, catfish blood meal, grubs, grasshoppers maybe even the mouse fly under the docks. Reminds me when my brother busted out a heavy saltwater rod at a trout lake and hucked a large iron way out there. All the old timers were laughing until... third cast a giant fish boiled on the lure. That silenced the peanut gallery. So far out in the morning mist we couldn't see what it was. Could've been the Loch Ness Monster. Everyone tied on their biggest lure and began casting with all their might but we never saw it again.
