Do you like Nashville Tuning better on Electric or Acoustic? Why?

My Ovation Legend Elite 12-string (from around 1980) has stereo output, where it splits different strings to the separate channels -- so, YES, someone did think of that, and made it happen!

I recently put a Nashville set on my 6-string banjo and it sounds excellent. It's going to stay that way.

I use a modified version with a normal G, giving me a 3/3 set-up on electric. This gives me a little more room for lead lines. That said, my favorite is regular Nashville on acoustic. Standard finger-picking patterns are impressive in this tuning.

@kentlangham5811
@kentlangham5811 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jamler3 I use 10-48 on my electric 12 so that makes the G a .017, & the octave up a .008.

I think the Nashville tuning is recognizable from many old recordings of acoustics used as rhythm guitars.

I don't understand I ordered a nashvile tuning set and when I got them the G 3d is also Wounded like the E 6th and it doesn't sound like this. The G sounds 1 octave lower😒 After 3 months I am not really to convinced with the sound Especially that when I press on a tunned A string on the 2nd fret to play a B I get a sharp sound, I just throws me off each time. I even tried to adjust the Rode, it doesn't fix the problem I ended up swaping the A string with the wounded G string, now it is so tight I feel like it will break any moment, the G string is 1 octave lower to your tuning I realize. By the way I also have the D'Addario high strun/nashville tunning .010-0.27. Phosphor bronze EJ38H Do you think the Set is not supposed to come with 2 wounded strings ? I have been playing guitar for 45 years and I am just confused can you please help me figure this out ?

Cool that you have a Nashville set now! I had to make a custom set last year to set mine up, but now it will be so much faster

I have a dreadnought plus a Telecaster (partscaster) dedicated to Nashville. But I have a problem with it being called “tuning,” since they’re totally different strings. And don’t embarrass yourself. No one has a Squier they don’t use.

Most alternate tunings require different strings to work best!
@Ira88881
@Ira88881 Жыл бұрын
@@Stringjoy I know. I buy the special sets. But they’re still TUNED to their respective notes, albeit different octaves. It’s not like Drop D tuning, Open E tuning, other alternate tunings. It’s just me, but I think it should be called Nashville STRINGING.

What would Nashville tuning sound like on a baritone acoustic?
@jed1166
@jed1166 2 жыл бұрын
Except for the the F#-high B, it would just be a standard tuning B-E-A-D-G, so I am guessing it would sound much like a standard acoustic…? However, #1. Guild and Taylor make 8 string acoustic Baritones, with octave D and G strings above standard baritone tuned strings. They sound great! Of course, this is only 2 octave strings, not 4 like standard Nashville. #2. I don’t tune all the way down to B, but am always in D to D. I used the Guild / Taylor 8 strings for inspiration to string my RainSong jumbo with octave D and G strings, with the rest in fundamental tuning. I call it “half Nashville” tuning. It gives some chime and brilliance like a 12 string, but has great bass on the low strings! Solo, it brightens up my D tuning a little. In a group, cuts through much better! Maybe you try the same with your baritone? Use normal baritone tuning on 1-2-5-6 strings, and octaves on the 3-4 strings… “half Nashville”, full sound!

Do you normally need to tweek the nut to accommodate the Nash tuning smaller strings?
@Stringjoy

Probably not in most cases, but definitely would need to adjust the bridge for action/intonation reasons.

The b and e on a 12-string are the in unison so basically you're putting the thin 12 strings on a 6 string....that's all you're doing‼️ and you're making it sound like something witty and original and then calling it a "Nashville tuning" when it's not a tuning ,it's "Nashville stringing "all you doing is stringing the guitar different 😃this is about as idiotic as the Nashville "number system" which is writing the number instead of the Roman numeral 😂😅😆that town is so desperate to have some unique image... it's just plain stupid! If you go to Nashville and you have a music education and you just laugh your butt off at the place 😁😋🤣😂😅😆
